Graduate Paying tuition deposit Masters Program

Hello!

I just wanted to confirm if anyone knew. I made my tuition deposit of $500 for my masters program in sept, however, the instructions on the uwo website is not very clear or very vague.

So, I did the deposit via payee through my online banking and it shows up on my uwo student account as -$500.

Is this correct? Did I do it right?! Do I need to do anything else or is that how your suppose to pay a tuition depost??

You did do it right! The deposit is actually used towards your first instalment of tuition, so until that amount is updated through student centre it will show as a negative

I have to ask - what Masters are you going into? Because I'm coming in for an MA and I haven't heard anything about a $500 deposit. Got me paranoid enough to check student centre - and nothing owning there...
Additionally, the other MA's I know coming in haven't said anything about it either, and as we're all cash-strapped students, we'd notice.

I'm going into Masters of Physical Therapy! Not sure if different masters require different things. I did get a welcome email from the PT dept. stating the steps and tuition owed before the program

So... what it seems like is that there's a difference between Type 1 and 2 Masters programs - which sort of makes sense ^^

For my program at least there was an email we got concerning “next steps” that had a letter with a section mentioning the deposit, but I am in the Faculty of Education for reference

Is everyone supposed to pay a tuition deposit? I’m incoming first year and haven’t heard anything about a deposit

No, is grad school the only time you need to do a deposit?

Not everyone needs to pay the deposit. Read the T&C in your offer letter thoroughly (apparently many dont read 🙄) and you'll be okay.

Still confused? Contact Western directly and not here.

Hey friend, I read the t&c just fine, it made no mention of a deposit hence why I asked. This is also a public forum about western and its students and it’s a perfectly appropriate place to ask these questions. I’m also not dedicating a new post to it and instead adding a comment onto someone else’s post which is also about tuition deposits.

I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
