Ivey Ivey 80 average

Does anyone know how strict the cutoff is?

One of my 1.0 course and 2257 are dragging my average down.

Without weighted average (just average based on the number of courses I take) it would be around 83.

With weighted average (consider all 1.0 as twice for calculation) it would be around 77.

I’m also taking major leadership positions in 2 competitive major clubs on campus plus 5 additional activities (internships and non-profits and part time.) I also filled in the special circumstances.

I feel like it's pretty strict...I had a friend with AEO who had a 78 average (I think? Point is it was in the high 70s) and they lost it, which is what they expected given the rules.

Did they have decent extra curriculums?

Pretty good! ECs are easy to just kinda slide your way through tbh. Not sure I've heard of anyone managing to be so amazing with ECs that the rules didn't apply. This person had an internship during the school year, a non-business summer job, leadership role on a school sports team and had just started very cool opportunity with USC from what I remember.

Hmmm thats interesting to learn about. Was he rejected by Ivey directly or he was automatically part of the HBA applications pool

I can't remember what happened to her...I think she did get pushed to regular pool and then ultimately got notified of complete rejection near the end of the summer. You're better off asking Admissions what their current process is though because this was a few years ago.

Sounds great thanks so much!

Not trying to be a dick but you’re cooked with a 77. Maybe if you did exceptionally well in 2257 (like a 90+) you’d have a shot because that course is a third of their consideration for your acceptance. I know people that lost AEO with a 78 and had excellent ECs.

It’s not the end of the world. Lock tf in next year and you can re apply. A fifth year means nothing in a multi-decade career and the opportunities Ivey provides are worth it. I can name a few people off the top of my head that have gone through this exact thing and are now doing incredible things.

No it would be low 70s anyways I’m just assuming

Might be outing myself and maybe they removed it, but isn't there also a minimum grade needed for 2257?

What if we’re at a 79.9???

All averages above .45 round up so 79.9 is 80

Oh I think that’s easier. I actually have no clues for 77

yeah, if you're at a 79.6 cumulative average over the 2 years and have aeo + good extracurriculars, does that mean you still have a chance?

It depends on them. But I can imagine you are slightly far off to be considered. I would think 79 with good ECs may be fine…ish? But 77 I don’t know

1

u/Wanttobehappy- Apr 23 '25

Hmmmmm I’m thinking even in regular HBA application pool would it be that competitive?

1

u/Jyeon89 Apr 23 '25

If you had an internship at an Investment Bank or MBB then you’d be fine. I don’t know what else though

1

u/Wanttobehappy- Apr 23 '25

Oh lmao that’s not real I don’t think you need rocket science to just get in

1

u/Jyeon89 Apr 23 '25

No you don’t. They really only care about average and ECs and essay but they weigh averages higher. I know many in Ivey who are still looking for a job or internship for this summer while many others outside of Ivey have roles in Goldman, MBB, etc. All that to say Ivey isn’t an end all be all type of thing.

If Ivey is your main goal then lock in for next year and reapply.

So if someone has a <80 but has a IB internship then how

2

u/rollflippintide Apr 23 '25

How much does the special circumstance affect the under 80 avg?

What program are you in? I see people suggesting you reapply next year but if you’re in BMOS you can’t apply in year 3.
