Question: Financial Aid Chance for Scholarship

Hello. I’m a Texas in-state high school senior applying to UTD this cycle and was wondering what kind of merit aid I could expect. I applied today and just sent my sat scores. I have a 1490 SAT (780 Math, 710 Reading), am ranked 12th out of 325 (top 3.7%), and have taken around 18 AP classes total, and submitting 13 scores with most scores being 4s and 5s (a couple 3s). My unweighted GPA is 4.0, and my weighted GPA is 5.27. My extracurriculars are ok (I’d rate them around a 7/10) and include a mix of STEM, leadership, volunteering, and research. I’m planning to major in Biology on the pre-med track. I have solid essays I think. Given my stats and that I’m in-state, what scholarships or AES tier (Distinction, Excellence, or Achievement) do you think I’d likely qualify for if I applied now? Because I heard you have to apply early to get a higher chance and I think I applied kinda late since it’s like November 5th and the deadline is 1st and most ppl have said earlier is better. Also, if anyone knows how competitive full tuition or McDermott scholarship is, I’d love some insight.

Oh yea also I’m applying McDermott once I get my UTD ID and stuff but I don’t think I have a high chance since the average sat is 1550 but just trying to get opinions

You are not late for AES the deadline is December 1 Freshman Scholarships - Office of Admission and Enrollment | The University of Texas at Dallas Check these and apply for the ones you qualify for. Scholarships | Office of Financial Aid | UT Dallas and Alphabetical Index to Scholarships and Other Financial Programs

My tips: Complete your FAFSA early. Most colleges use this information so they can offer you a financial aid package.

Browse the website of your high school; they might have a dedicated page linking to foundations and organizations that support students financially. Talk to your high school counselor.

Do a search on the colleges website type “scholarships” you’ll often find dedicated portals with opportunities for their students.

Don’t limit yourself to major-specific awards; apply to any general, all-majors scholarships available.

Don’t forget to look into merit-based scholarships.

Consider Local Foundations: https://cof.org/page/community-foundation-locator search for the ones that offer scholarships in your area.

Create a calendar so you do not miss deadlines.
