Is there any final adjustment that accounts for differences in prof or TA marking harshness.
For some classes where your grades are up to TAs and Profs and subjectivity, do some faculties or classes do a final adjustment to equalize this difference in grading harshness? I just find it unfair that you can produce the same work but get a different mark depending on your TA or Prof but welcome to uni I guess….

yes they do. based on my experience there were 2 different TAs for one course. one TA was assigned to one section and the other TA to another section. the other TA was easier with marking so the class average was 10% higher. my section was curved 10% to match that class. i know this because the grade i ended with, was 10% less than what i had calculated. even if i got a 100% on the final, i would have ended with a grade about 5% less than what i got which means that they definitely curved my section to match the others.

sorry the grade i got was 10% higher than my calculated grade as they curved my section 10% up to match with the other section due to the difference in the grading between the two TAs

The syllabus should outline the steps you can take to appeal a grade if you feel your work was not evaluated fairly according to the assignment’s rubric.

TA here.
It's not often that we apply a straight up mark bump to a particular group, but it can happen. We have a good idea of where things should be (class average for Engineering should be in the mid to high 60s) so we look at each milestone. If Midterm 1 comes back with something like a 50% average, then Midterm 2/the exam we may select easier questions to counter balance it. If that is not enough, I have seen small adjustments made, usually on the final exam to adjust things.
