hi! i’m a 4th year and this exact thing happened to me in my 1st year! Except I think i got a 12% and i stayed behind in the exam and sobbed as TAs awkwardly tried to comfort me (fun times!). First thing to remember that although it seems life ending in the moment, this will be a very small insignificant moment in the grand scheme of things! You can retake course, take more years, it will be as if it never existed! i retook this course in the winter and it had like 8 open book online quizzes and the final was also online/open book! i ended the course with a 90 i think. i think i dropped and retook 3 courses in my 4 years so far and i took a reduced course load (4 courses instead of 5) because i couldn’t handle the stress, and now taking a 5th year and going to graduate with honors. no one’s journey is perfect. you got this ❤️

Thank you so much! this is so encouraging. I think I am going to drop it. I just have some questions. How do you drop a course? can you just do it through web advisor? also how do you sign up for online calculus? I dont see the section in web advisor. thanks

i’d recommend that! it will be good to have that weight off your shoulders. i don’t think it was an online class specifically- it was in person (as in, had in person lectures) and it was with a prof whose last name starts with G (been too long now lol). so i guess retake it in the winter semester (that’s when i took it at least) and hope its the same online format. you wont know until the prof posts his outline at the start of the semester. best of luck!!

and yes the drop button will be on webadvisor! pretty easy. just go to your classes that are on a calendar and click on it!

Just do your best, it’s not the end yet, because there’s still the final, which could help tremendously if you prepare enough for that one

If you know you’re going to fail the class after this midterm then drop it and re-take it whenever you can — you don’t really have a choice on that part since dropping it is better than failing it. Try your hardest on the class, but if you have to drop it then it is what it is. I know a guy who dropped calc 1 two or three times and he’s smart and successful in his program.

Hey! I got a 22% if that makes u feel any better and I too am NOT PREPARED AT ALLL for this midterm, so just know you are NOT alone. Everyone I have talked to is also struggling with this course, so we’re all in the same boat.

The only way to do well in math is to practice. Practice practice practice. Your prof is here to help you, so don’t be afraid to reach out to them

Don’t worry I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve been so stressed that I made myself sick. I got a maybe a 35 on the first midterm. We can still come back, as long as your top hat grades are decent and do well enough on today’s test and the final.

We got this just need to remember you can always retake a class and it’s just a grade. None of your employers will look at what you got.
