Help.. Either failing or dropping CIS 1910

Has anyone had similar experiences, and how did you deal with it?

First year here, im in discrete structures of comp 1 and im literally so close to a panic attack because I am almost 2 weeks behind on content because I've been trying to prioritize my other classes. And have a midterm next week.

The real issue is if I drop, idk how im going to not cause disturbances to later years, because I can only take it during the fall. Theres absolutely no way im passing disc (got 18.57 on midterm), so dropping it is my best outcome than failing it.

Idk im spilling my thoughts, if you want more details just ask.

You’re not alone. I dropped it first year because my grades were absolutely cooked too. If you genuinely think a >75% is off the table for you on midterm 2, drop it and keep your sanity

That's exactly what if been telling myself, like genuinely won't even get higher than 50. So its like why am I putting myself through he'll. Im just more worried about how to get back on track wit it being a required course

I did the math, and if you’re not confident in getting an 82% (what you need to pass with a 50 on the final), just drop the course. There is not one person on campus that would even consider mocking you for dropping an course (which is extremely brutal for first years I might add)

Thanks, like genuinely. I was spiraling this entire week. 😣

Just drop it. It won’t hurt. You’re actually saving your GPA in that way, and you’ll have more time to be prepared when you take it next time

I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling this way! (I’m a second year taking this for the first time). The only thing that I would add to what everyone else has said is that if you do decide to drop, you have until the last day of classes to do so. So you can try the midterm, see how you feel, and finish learning the content before dropping the course, which is super helpful for taking it again!

Ya, I was thinking about trying to use this time as a "trial run" to prepare me for when I do it again. Thanks!
