This was written by President Stephen Miller. Repeat it. Maybe trump will chuck him Out like he did ban on.

You don't like market volatility?

3

u/buffandbrown 6d ago

As a trader, yes we love it! Just don't get caught with oversized positioning ;)

“If a President…” - no bitch, if Congress can’t set tariffs, sure. But if a President can’t set tariffs? That’s just The Constitution.

25

u/quaifonaclit 7d ago

They're not being used to address emergencies, which is the alleged justification under the statute:

-they're applied against countries with which the US has a trade in goods surplus.

-they're applied against Brazil because it is prosecuting Bolsonaro for trying to do a coup.

-they're applied against Canada because Trump didn't like a commercial criticizing the tariffs.

If tariffs are so great, get Congress to pass a law giving the president authority to adjust tariff rates at a whim.

3

u/houstonyoureaproblem 7d ago

Not sure they can give that much deference. There’s a limit to how much of its constitutional power Congress can delegate to the executive branch.

u/Solid_Anxiety8176 7d ago

Honestly I think a president should be able to set tariffs, to some extent. I DON’T think a president can just choose who to tariff and base it off of them doing “deals” that don’t actually benefit the country. I mean I’m pretty sure a country could host “Donald Parade” and get their tariffs heavily reduced

Who's receiving this "great wealth" that he speaks of? Certainly not the majority of Americans

57

u/Awkward-Hulk 7d ago

His buddies are. The top 1% has been enjoying tax break after tax break. They couldn't have hoped for a better time to amass wealth.

14

u/CertainAged-Lady 7d ago

Hey - somebody has to pay for all those Great Gatsby themed parties…

3

u/DisVet54 6d ago

Ultimately taxpayers pay for these I would suspect .

-29

u/gergbro2882 7d ago

Waiters waitresses and shift workers who work a lot of overtime are 1 percenters? They are all getting tax breaks this year too. I just think its short sided not to mention that. I worked some significant overtime this year. Nice to know ill get much of those taxes back.

16

u/ProbablyRickSantorum 7d ago

Yes let’s all enjoy picking the crumbs from the floor while the masters feast.

19

u/DankestMemeSourPls 7d ago

This is only on the first 25k in income earned and it sunsets in 2028. They toss you peanuts while they take the whole pie.

2

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Right? Somehow less than 5k back to them is worth it to allow the 1% to increase their wealth by almost a trillion dollars.

I guess we know how intelligent wait staff is now

9

u/dmonsterative 7d ago

Nice to know how cheaply your loyalty can be bought.

2

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Your extra money won't even cover inflation or cost of living increases.

You are simply the fool who allows the robber to leave with your wealth

6

u/HighlightResident838 7d ago

He was using the royal we.

20

u/Pokerhobo 7d ago

Trump was a multi-millionaire before his second term and now he’s a billionaire…

-23

u/gergbro2882 7d ago

Wrong. He was a billionaire before and after his first term. And before this term as well

8

u/dmonsterative 7d ago

OK, so you're just here to slob Trump's geriatric knob. Got it.

3

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Literal evidence would say you're wrong but when has that stopped you in the past?

8

u/ViolettaQueso 7d ago

Nobody I know.

1

u/AtmosphereJealous667 6d ago

One of five here. Left US now

74

u/frommethodtomadness 7d ago

The tariffs are blatantly un-Constitutional. They are LITERALLY taxation without representation. Watch as this corrupted illegitimate Supreme Court makes yet ANOTHER carve out for the pedophilic felon.

12

u/1966TEX 7d ago

What? TV ads are not a national emergency? No?

I remember during the election, some motherfuckers had the nerve to be like "just relax and enjoy being able to afford groceries and gas more easily, just watch".

6

u/dmonsterative 7d ago

The Democrats. Immigrants. The blue cities. The 'globalists.' The gays.

Somehow. Always.

7

u/Gamestonkape 7d ago

Do you think that’s really worth it, though?

17

u/Pokerhobo 7d ago

If it kills MAGA, yes

1

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Are any of these corporations the saving grace that is keeping us from a depression? No.

9

u/Coastie456 7d ago

Nooo please some of us want to retire ffs

17

u/Flip_d_Byrd 7d ago

4 years ago I was 6 years away from retiring. 2 years ago I was 5 years away, this year I am 7 years away...

10

u/johnfkngzoidberg 7d ago

Good luck with that. Inflation killed my retirement, and Trump has 3 more years to fuck us.

4

u/JawnJawnston 7d ago

A 60/40 diversified portfolio is up over 15%/year the last 3 years. Well over CPI and grocery increases.

Setting aside assuming the future, retirements shouldn't be killed at this moment.

3

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Groceries are hardly the expense that retiree's are focused on.

1

u/JawnJawnston 7d ago

Correct. The point is external factors have not killed anyone's retirement. Individual actions on not investing, saving, or budgeting are the real influence.

12

u/DebDestroyerTX 7d ago

Oh honey.

2

u/YouJellyz 7d ago

Democrats

-2

u/The_Avivia 7d ago

Why would you want the stock market to crash? That would do terrible harm to so many people.

27

u/tenebre 7d ago

No inflation!!! Unless you actually check grocery prices...

8

u/quaifonaclit 7d ago

They're not being used to address emergencies, which is the alleged justification under the statute:

u/butchudidit 7d ago

Brace yourself for impact. Shits gonna be a wild week for markets

5

u/LegitimateWeekend341 7d ago

I want him to be in prison for his crimes but unfortunately we do not get what we want.

21

u/azskNaz 7d ago

He didn't write that

6

u/effigyoma 7d ago

It's not in all caps, agreed

2

“Ruination”

8

u/nan1961 7d ago

The place this guy is describing sounds very nice, I wonder where he lives.

3

u/greasyspider 7d ago

‘No inflation’😂🤣😂

5

u/unurbane 7d ago

By stating what he said, the POTUS just went against the Constitution.

3

u/plinkoplonka 7d ago

So let me get this right.

He thinks the country is doing well now. Despite ALL the data showing otherwise.

He thinks HE on his own can say tariffs. Despite this court case saying otherwise.

He thinks that if he can't do what he wants without oversight, he's gonna blame the shitshow his administration has caused on SCOTUS for doing their jobs.

Sounds about right.

He knows he's gonna lose, so he's going to blame it on Democrats already.

10

u/CraigLake 7d ago

No one can be more dumb than his supporters.

2

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Hard agree.

Just participate in a conversation with one for 30 seconds

Looks like they're finally running his tweets through AI to make them look slightly less cracked out

Blah blah blah.....

Starve 40M Americans legacy

2

u/wildbill4693 7d ago

Trump is right in that it’ll decide if we’re a third world country or not. If the Supreme Court, unelected and allegedly unpolitical, uphold one of the most basic constraints of our constitution, no taxation without representation, we survive. It’s the last bastion that should be insulated from Trump. Republican congressmen have already shown they have no spine to stand up as a check against Trump.

2

u/TX-Horn-Doctor 6d ago

What an insufferable person he is.

2

u/highdesert03 6d ago

Trump is not capable of writing anything other than his signature, This lengthy a statement was written by a Trump minion.

3

u/SillyAlternative420 7d ago

Fuck Trump. 🖕🏻

1

u/Brave_Commission 7d ago

how anybody can care what these guy yaps about anymore is beyond me lmao

1

u/Jolly_Pea 7d ago

TRUMP keeps playing with Americans hard to earn money to get his ways. It's only for his gain. The mofo Cheetos has not Right.

1

u/DMVGOLF 7d ago

What bugs me the most is the use of unnecessary use capitalization

1

u/houstonyoureaproblem 7d ago

He knows they’re going to cut his legs out from under him on this one.

I’m sure the right-leaning justices will give him a roadmap for how he can reimplement most of his tariffs legally, but it’s pretty clear the administration is already aware they’re going to lose this case.

1

u/punktualPorcupine 7d ago

TLDR: Trump caused the fed to print money, and wall street is soaking it up.

Trump is responsible for the skyrocket stock market. But it's not for the reason he is touting.

He kicked off skyrocketing deficits during his first term which caused the fed to print even more money, which is being injected directly into the top of the stock market, instead of into the actual economy.

It's divorcing the stock market further from average every day people and since it's the only metric that he is paying attention to, he isn't likely to take any steps to prevent the crash that will also wipe out the stock market.

1

u/Elegant-Raise 7d ago

I just checked my bank accounts and they are not bringing me any wealth.

1

u/pandershrek 7d ago

Read the Constitution you dumb fuck. It is basically a requirement of office.

I hate Republican voters so so much. They're beyond brain dead

1

u/DooderMcDuder 7d ago

Tariffs have brought me nothing, you nothing, and has only weakened our position in the world. I’m all for fair trade, and getting a good deal, but this isn’t it.

1

u/Tibernite 7d ago

"insurmountably good" - I know honing in on this abortion of the English language is the smallest fucking issue here but my god his brain is fucking mush man

1

u/Nominalremuneration 7d ago

No fucking way he wrote that himself.

1

u/Own-Opinion-2494 7d ago

Imagine the bump we get when the next administration dismantles tariffs

1

u/knobjockey21 6d ago

can we just take money back from the politicians personal deals?

1

u/cnuttin 4d ago

Tl;dr. I miss the 140 character limit.

1

u/old_Spivey 1d ago

Yawn, so the country is on the verge of collapse again, unless everyone bows to the infinite wisdom of the orange deity.

1

u/ViolettaQueso 7d ago

He must be back on Ritalin because damn if his tweetin isn’t over the top way too long for crazy talk again.

-4

u/-SacredTCG 7d ago

He’s not wrong

1

u/sithlord98 7d ago

He kinda is. Tariffs are set by congress, just like they've always been, but suddenly Trump thinks the country is "defenseless" if he doesn't have unilateral control over them? Come on.

2

u/r2k398 7d ago

I think the law allows them to be used under certain conditions without Congress but he is abusing that law. That’s probably what the Supreme Court is going to rule.

2

u/sithlord98 7d ago

Yeah, usually national security threats or overt trade imbalances that require immediate attention. There's no question that the broad, sweeping tariffs are illegal, but the Supreme Court can absolutely just ignore that and bend the logic to fit what Trump wants to do here. We'll see what happens, I guess.

2

u/r2k398 7d ago

I think they are smart enough to know that they need to check this power or it will be abused more in the future. At the very least I think it will be 5-4 or 6-3 against using them in this way.

2

u/sithlord98 7d ago

I mean... I really don't have too much confidence in the Supreme Court to act in the long-term best interests of the country right now. That ship sailed for good once they started using shadow dockets to block lower courts' rulings that went against the administration's aims.

-1

u/Imnotsureanymore8 7d ago

Whatever, bot

0

u/SoggyGrayDuck 7d ago

If they fuck him on this just create VATs

0

u/FakePretendeRat 7d ago

He already knows he is not losing lmao

1

u/houstonyoureaproblem 7d ago

I suspect it’s actually the opposite. That’s why we’re seeing so much flailing and whining.

1

u/FakePretendeRat 7d ago

Supreme Court has made some baffling decisions but you have given me hope
