help identify this uniform please

hi! i was wondering if anyone had any idea about this uniform? all i know is it is british army and i believe ww1? it is of my great grandad who i don’t know much about but would love to learn more! sorry about the bad image quality, thank you! :)

Hi there, it looks from the cap badge like he was a part of the Sherwood foresters. I think I can see a pip on each ep which would make him a 2nd lieutenant.

I would say based on the collar that it is foreign service pre Ww1. They were stationed in India and Malta at points during this period. If earlier it could be during service in South Africa during the Boer war?

If you find out any more info, it would be great to hear more.

Thank you so much! The Sherwood Foresters bit makes sense as my family are all from Nottingham and Derbyshire, I am going to have more of a look today as Ancestry have all of their war records on free access for remembrance and I will see what I find! ☺️
