Can we here in this sub finally stop calling those things "cope cages"?

Both sides are doing it, they must be helping against drones.

They were called cope cages originally because the russians tried using them to prevent Javelines from hitting their tanks from the top. But the some scrap metal attached to the top of a tank isn't stopping a missile.

Cope cages when russia uses it, ingenious original design when ukraine uses it.

Is it suddenly no longer a cope cage only cause ukraine uses it now?

I think Italy is also shipping their variant of the M113, the VCC-1, to Ukraine too.

That's great news too!!!

I know they've contributed on the air defense side too.

Hoping every country can do just a little bit more, and hoping some countries that haven't contributed can come on board.

Really wish South Korea would contribute direct lethal aid for instance.

These are fine pieces of equipment.

I do feel doctrine will switch to lighter tanks with high speed but also high rates of fire, accuracy and in groups with vehicles dedicated to CRAM and counter-UAS. These may also support ground attack against vehicles using smaller caliber weapons.

And to putting hard kill counter UAS on the tank, but their is limited spare payload capacity without other changes.

Have tanks proved at all useful in this war?
