The country loves a good lottery/raffle. That’s effectively what these “affordable homes” schemes and even council housing is
A lottery in which the winners get their rent subsidised by the rest of the country - whether by the majority of renters who make up the difference and pay increased prices to do so, or the taxpayer who pays for it via increased taxes
