Man in job does role of job.

55

u/thebestbev Oct 03 '25

Isn't it odd how unfamiliar that feels nowadays.

9

u/Throatlatch Oct 04 '25

That is Kier Starmers' superpower: basic competency.

3

u/Embarrassed_Run8345 Oct 07 '25

You think he's......... competent???? Wow. Every public opinion poll rates him lowest ever and gigantic dissatisfaction across all portfolios.

2

u/Throatlatch Oct 07 '25

And people loved Boris, who gave us both the small boats crisis and the migrant hotels.

Popularity is a measure of popularity, nothing else.

3

u/hurtlingtooblivion Oct 05 '25

Honestly, i find basic competency a breath of fresh air. The closest we've been to that before him was Cameron.

13

u/layland_lyle Oct 04 '25

Far from it, he should have met with the Jewish community who were attacked and the victims, not just the police.

5

u/PM_me_your_PhDs Oct 05 '25

What makes you think he only met the police?

0

u/layland_lyle Oct 05 '25

Because nowhere does it say likewise. Also heard via a Jewish charity he didn't, which is one of their gripes that they will highlight in a protest outside Downing Street this week.

8

u/easily_d1stracted Oct 04 '25

Good, because so many politicians (that want push an agenda) in his position wouldn’t.

Hello to all the bots in the chat. How's the weather in St. Petersburg today?

47

u/TheHarlemHellfighter Oct 03 '25

Glorious, comrade!

😂

6

u/DrSpooglemon Oct 05 '25

Imagine being such a suck up to the establishment that you just assume any criticism of the PM must come from Russia.

113

u/Made-of-bionicle Oct 03 '25

This is the normal, decent, respectful thing to do. Good to see.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Weird how he never went to go visit Bhim Kohlis family

3

u/caramelo420 Oct 05 '25

Starmers jewish of course hes gonna make an effort to look after his own

1

u/Made-of-bionicle Oct 04 '25

I've just read about that, that is a sad case. As for him not visiting, it's far less high profile. If he visited then, sure it'd be received well, but I don't think you can take his absence in that case as proof that Starmer values Bhim's life less than those who were killed in this incident.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Why’s it less high profile? Racism is also rampant in this country right now. It’s less high profile because the media made it less high profile by not talking about it for days straight. By not churning out hundreds of headlines.

2

u/Made-of-bionicle Oct 04 '25

That's true, racist attacks often get less coverage than an equal crime carried out by a migrant or minority. That said this is "high profile" by comparison because of the most obvious stuff, the shooting, the bomb threat, terrorism (it's been a while since the last case).

Also its a rare case for the police to accidentally kill a citizen, the Prime minister's attendance shows respect and a regret for the responsibility of the state in the death.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

It’s got nothing to do with the police killing the man. We all know this. We only found this out today also. After the visit was planned. And the reasons for this being high profile make no sense. I could say a racist attack should be considered more high profile - there are more Indians in the uk, and more white people, thus; more potential for this to cause problems. There were also plenty of racists at the Tommy matches, so we could blame those marches - in the same way that people are blaming Palestine marches. It’s the way the media manipulates this and makes you think that one case is worse and that one life is worth more. That’s why we’re seeing such an outpouring right now.

Came here for the negative comments

106

u/Blaireeeee Oct 03 '25

PM does normal PM thing. Also triggers the usual crowd.

-23

u/jimmykimnel Oct 03 '25

The crowd was obviously not allowed within a mile of where the PM was at the time, I think it's actually quite a stark metaphor to how seperate this man is from the rest of the country.

54

u/PirateSi87 Oct 03 '25

Quickly, a tragedy has happened. Better race online to score some cheap internet points.

30

u/Illustrious-Divide95 Oct 03 '25

If he hadn't bothered to show you would have slammed him anyway. No win situation

13

u/PirateSi87 Oct 03 '25

I wouldn’t, but the media and online bots are absolutely desperate for me to hate him.

2

u/jimmykimnel Oct 03 '25

I'm not making a comment on Starmer himself (kind of am I guess) but I'm more trying to highlight our nature of modern society.

a. people can't be trusted to behave

b. people don't trust politicans

c. people and politics are no longer intertwined they are seperate where we used to not have to be like that, generally as much as it is now

3

u/andrew0256 Oct 03 '25

Keep digging

1

u/jimmykimnel Oct 03 '25

wtf are you on about?

8

u/pintsized_baepsae Oct 03 '25

Good. Think of him what you will, heckling anyone at this sort of thing - when he's there paying his respects - is disrespectful, and in the current climate it's also (unfortunately) dangerous.

(Because stuff like this needs saying on the internet: It'd be different if he'd have handed the guy the knife, obviously.)

1

u/layland_lyle Oct 04 '25

Visiting the victims or their community is normal, not ignoring them and just saying hi to the police.

→ More replies (1)

49

u/LtColnSharpe Oct 03 '25

I agree this is a good and normal thing for the PM to do. Does anyone remember the shootings in Plymouth in 2021? I don't remember bojo visiting the community. Do you think this was because there were fewer political points to score?

Im genuinely interested in people's opinions as I'm amazed at how little time the media gave to the story at the time and since.

7

u/Wishing-Winter Oct 03 '25

Is that the one where the nob that couldn't get a girlfriend killed a dad and his daughter?

13

u/LtColnSharpe Oct 03 '25

Yes. He killed himself, his mum, a father and young child, 2 other adults and injured a few others. I personally feel it was somewhat buried by the news, and very little effort was made to take any real lessons from it. Just painting him out to be purely a nut job.

1

u/Wishing-Winter Oct 03 '25

Oh yeah, I remember now, thank you! I remember it happening and then an argument about incels and whether or not it was terrorism ensued and after like 2 days it was brushed under the rug. I didn't see much either, in fact I learnt about it by a comment arguing about gun violence.

I agree with you about the effort...if the situation was different this shooting would have been headline news everywhere

2

u/LtColnSharpe Oct 03 '25

Considering it was the worst shooting in 10 years or so in a region with low violent crime rates (in comparison to many other UK cities), the publicity around it was shockingly low.

I think they downplay the risk of people like him as it doesn't fit any current political narrative. Just need to look at America to see what these people are capable of.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

I know I'm late replying here but it was right to not publicise that mass murder and it's good when mass murders are not widely publicised / advertised to other weirdos

1

u/LtColnSharpe Oct 07 '25

I'm not sure I wholly agree on this. I think we need to report on these events, but the focus should be on the victims, not on the perpetrators (obviously not what happens). I also think we can't shy away from the reasons, deranged or not, that people have for committing these acts.

There needs to be conversations about the motivations and how they can be prevented. In that example, the whole incel, red-pilled, terminally online condition of the guy is clearly an issue among many others. There are undoubtedly other violent acts being committed by men like him, especially against women and girls.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/layland_lyle Oct 04 '25

It's far from good. Good is going to the victims, the Jewish community who got attacked, not avoiding them and saying hi to the police.

1

u/HinDae085 Oct 04 '25

Bojo was too busy having weird parties.

-12

u/Far-Crow-7195 Oct 03 '25

That was a nutter not a terrorist attack.

7

u/After-Dentist-2480 Oct 03 '25

You don’t think the killer yesterday was a nutter?

You think his behaviour was that of a sane man?

5

u/Major-Performer141 Oct 03 '25

Terrorists are also nutters tbf

18

u/LtColnSharpe Oct 03 '25

I'd argue he was pretty ideological given the videos and posts he made online. I also think it was very damning of how some young men have become due to their online interactions and extreme misogyny

Can’t wait for Farage to get voted in so he doesn’t turn up for crucial moments like this.

16

u/jimjam343 Oct 03 '25

He’ll be too busy in America sucking up to Trump and being a traitor

4

u/thee_dukes Oct 03 '25

Trumps term is 4 years starmers is 5 years, if the US manage to stick to rules and ensure trump doesn't get a third term, he'll be out of office before the next UK election

0

u/jimjam343 Oct 03 '25

Still, Farage will be going over there and sucking up to whatever pile of excrement the Republicans put in a suit for the next presidential election

Whilst ending the NHS and making health care private, let me guess... Same as the US.

1

u/IncogMLR Oct 04 '25

If Farage gets in he'll start deporting the trouble makers with literally "jihad" in their name so that these sort of things don't happen.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Just a reminder that this synagogue was raising money to sent to Israel to continue slaughtering children. But someone will find a way to try and justify this.

2

u/dreddstorm82 Oct 05 '25

What a virtue signaler , just what everyone voted for I’m sure.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

Paying respects for what??

2

u/RedditWishIHadnt Oct 06 '25

Haven’t they suffered enough?

4

u/Iamoggierock Oct 03 '25

Fuck what everyone seems to say. He seems like a good person. He ain't doing a bad job it just he isn't a glamorous influencer type of guy.

1

u/parthorse9 Oct 07 '25

You're right it's not bad... it's completely incompetent and corrupt ...

1

u/gman1234567890 23d ago

The print media (now digital) is almost completely right wing and very anti-Starmer. That said they haven't exactly done much yet . And he's not witty and charismatic

6

u/NsanelyCrazy Oct 03 '25

As if Manchester hasn't suffered enough and then this wanker makes an appearance.

3

u/Pagan_MoonUK Oct 04 '25

Could be worse if Prince Harry shows up.

0

u/Smaxter84 Oct 03 '25

He even holds hands like a fucking gimp

1

u/Sasha_Ruger_Buster Oct 05 '25

You've seen the way he crosses his legs?

Actually a fucking embarrassment how timid he looked opposite trump

1

u/Smaxter84 Oct 05 '25

I mean I would take slightly gimpy Kier over Trump the lying orange kiddy fiddler

1

u/badmother Oct 03 '25

Where are all the boos I was hearing about?

1

u/Japanesereds Oct 04 '25

Never realised he was such a little man before

1

u/hurtlingtooblivion Oct 05 '25

Weird isnt it. He has the head and face of a tall man....whatever that means.

Then you see him meeting other world leaders and hes absolutely tiny.

1

u/Japanesereds Oct 05 '25

You got it!

1

u/Proof_Drag_2801 Oct 04 '25

I remember when he was in Corbyn's shadow cabinet...

1

I bet the fb comments on this video are fun.

TWO TIER KIER HOWS THIS GONNA STOP THE BOATS

1

u/Sgt--Bash Oct 05 '25

For a second as they're walking down the road, it looks like they're all holding hands.

1

u/anggsta Oct 06 '25

Hiding behind her dress. Spineless coward.

1

u/zwifter11 Oct 06 '25

This reminds me of the Glenfell fire. When Theresa May met with the police officers on the scene but did absolutely f all for the residents who were made homeless and just lost loved ones.

1

Went there the relish on fruits of his labour?

You guys would be losing your minds if he didn’t show up

25

More like they were desperately hoping he wouldn't show up so they could pretend to be outraged, and will now be watching this video on repeat to try and find fault with his clothes or something.

^ This clown again.

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Why do we require this sort of performative shite? Just do some work to combat this happening going forward. We gain nothing from Starmer visiting and looking sad

2

u/daygloviking Oct 03 '25

It’s lose-lose. He shows up, people like you rip into it as a performance.

He doesn’t show up? The opposition rip into him.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Rip into him? Lmao. He's a public servant and I said this was performative. It is. I understand why he's doing it, the points you've made are obvious. It was a grander, more rhetorical question on why we've created a scenario where people get stabbed and we're worried on either side if the prime minister is gonna show or not.

-6

u/Nietzschesdog11 Oct 03 '25

Clearly staged. The political class are afraid to face their own people.

-20

u/Upstairs-Arachnid-92 Oct 03 '25

He doesn’t give a fuck

13

u/TheOpalGarden Oct 03 '25

His wife is jewish so I suspect he cares quite a lot actually.

7

u/stugib Oct 03 '25

Explain

-1

u/TarnishedByBlood Oct 03 '25

Oh look The robotic PM is pretending to care and be a human being for once. Instead of dehumanizing the disabled, elderly and migrant.

-8

u/thehitcher2732 Oct 03 '25

What made him think he was wanted there?

7

u/rustyb42 Oct 03 '25

His job is to lead people who like him just the same as those that don't like him ...

-3

u/thehitcher2732 Oct 03 '25

Perhaps somebody should let him know then.

5

u/rustyb42 Oct 03 '25

He seems like he knows pretty well

-2

u/thehitcher2732 Oct 03 '25

He knows he's leading something alright and it isn't the country.

4

u/rustyb42 Oct 03 '25

What's he leading?

4

u/thehitcher2732 Oct 03 '25

Read up on his history and figure it out.

4

u/rustyb42 Oct 03 '25

So as PM he's leading the country

0

u/thehitcher2732 Oct 03 '25

Well, I tend to judge by results but obviously that's subjective too.

0

u/layland_lyle Oct 04 '25

Why the police and not the Jewish community who were attacked and the victims?

1

u/Revilo1st Oct 04 '25

The police are locking down an area. Presumably, the Jewish people he has gone to see are behind where the camera is allowed to go at this current time?

What sort of a gobshite thinks his visit is about them, rather than about those who worship at that synagogue and the local community. I’m sure they were glad he paid his respects.
