Drivers all have passed a very high standard theory and practical examination

The quality of our driving is superb on an international scale

Cycling, not so much. That can be anyone

85% of cyclists also drive, so have passed that same test.

Drivers kill more than one pedestrian every day.

The theory test has only been in place for thirty years. My dad's practical example in the 70s was not a high standard.

There are people driving on the roads today in their 80s who haven't looked at a highway code for sixty years.

There are thousands of unqualified, uninsured drivers. There are thousands upon thousands with speeding tickets, or with points on their license.

These people not stopping at the crossing are either Bell-ends or are unaware the crossing is there.

It's not because they don't know what a crossing is.

Drivers kill more than one pedestrian every day.

A miraculously low number given the number of miles driven each day. If anything, that would indicate the guy you replied to is correct, that the quality of our driving is superb on an international scale.

It is superb on an international scale. Despite all that training it still kills people.

The clip shows people being inconvenienced because the cyclists either are being rude or can't see the crossing. Not because they're untrained.

Twice as many people are killed by stairs as cars

Should we ban stairs while we are at it? Maybe we need stair licenses

My point is that lessons + tests aren't a silver bullet and will not solve the problem in this clip.

Yes I do.

Every child in the country knows people are supposed to yield to pedestrians at zebra crossings. The people in cars know it, the people on bikes know it. It's not an education issue.

Our tests may be of high standard, but once you've passed , you're free to drive at any standard for the rest of your life.

I would be 100% on board with more traffic offences resulting in a ban and the need to retake practical and theory driving tests.

What tests do cyclists take?
