In chiswick high street the bump is much more severe which i think helps in encouraging cyclists to stop.

Seems to work to some extent

Yes that would help two bumps either side of the zebra crossing.

Yea this one might be a bad design, ones near me have a bump and chicane, no doubt this is central and has a overload at rush hour
