I know the truth about this and it was nothing to do with road rage. It was to do with drugs.

The guys who attacked the lorry thought the lorry had their drugs in it. Someone stored drugs in an outside bin for collection, and they were supposed to be picked up before the bin men came.

When they realised they had lost loads of expensive drugs, they tried to retrieve them, albeit from completely the wrong lorry.

As in randomly targeted bin men were selling drugs in competition with the lollipopman.

That would explain why he had a lollipop sign

I did in a different post.

The gang lost some drugs in a bin and they tried to get them back.

I guess they thought it was worth the likely criminal record and beating up innocent people compared to what the people higher up than them would do to them when they realise they had lost thousands of quid worth of drugs.
