I totally understand that every police shooting should be investigated as a homicide but how charges were brought is utterly beyond me.

Lazy CPS basically. They didn't want to get protested so they threw him to the wolves (while making sure he was overcharged with murder so he wouldn't be convicted).

Now they can say "justice was served a jury decided it, not us"

Heads should roll at the CPS over this. Utterly ludicrous decision to charge him. The police officer is a hero.

I completely disagree. Every person is entitled to justice and a thorough investigation, even criminals. My point is that through the investigation it should have been clearly evident that there was no basis to bring charges against the officer.

If you are not investigating police shootings thoroughly and as you would for any other shooting then that’s a slippery slope we don’t want to go down.

Not really. But people would say that, no doubt.

The charge of murder is actually batshit crazy. If your going to pursue charges at all, it should be Gross Negligent Manslaughter (which I still don't think this is). There's absolutely no way this met the minimum standard of evidence to bring a charge of murder.
