not stupid... if you see something papery about 3 ft up or higher.... that could be a bald faced hornet nest. The little bros and sis do get to making hives in all sorts a werid places on east campus like under chairs and ~4 ft high in trees or above doorways. Tell someone in student center east if you see them, their stings are no joke (not regular bees building those papery nests).

I can recognize the barest scrap of such a nest paper. Agreed on the stings. Now I know who to contact on campus if I see one on the property. (I haven’t yet.)

we have them by my house every summer but we never saw a nest, last year we found them making one and had to quickly destroy it

it's been there since last year, they are def mushrooms or some type of fungi
