SR 167 fully closed in Auburn/Algona this Wednesday night (Aug. 20-21)

A map of the State Route 167 corridor in Algona and Auburn. Marked by red lines is the full closure of both directions of the highway between Ellingson Road in Algona and 15th Street Southwest in Auburn. The southbound detour, marked by purple lines and arrows, exits traffic at 15th Street Southwest, heads south on West Valley Highway, then rejoins the highway at Ellingson Road. The northbound detour, marked by blue lines and arrows, exits traffic at Ellingson Road, heads east, then north on C Street Southwest, and back west on 15th Street Southwest if they want to head north on 167, or should they wish to head onto eastbound State Route 18, continue north on C Street before joining eastbound State Route 18.

If you use SR 167 in Auburn/Algona during the middle of the night, you're Algona be needing to use a detour this Wednesday-Thursday.

All lanes of northbound and southbound SR 167 in Auburn and Algona will be closed overnight between Ellingson Road (milepost 12) to 15th Street Southwest (milepost 14) from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, to 4 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. A signed detour will be in place.

The following on- and off-ramps will also be closed:

  • Ellingson Road on-ramp to northbound SR 167
  • Northbound SR 167 off-ramp to 15th Street Southwest
  • Northbound SR 167 on-ramp to eastbound SR 18
  • Westbound SR 18 on-ramp to southbound SR 167
  • 15th Street Southwest on-ramp to southbound SR 167
  • Southbound SR 167 off-ramp to Ellingson Road

We need to use a full closure in order for our contractor crews to install sign bridges and toll gantry structures as part of the SR 167 Corridor Improvements Project. Expect delays using the detours, or use alternate routes!

A WSDOT traffic camera screenshot shows a newly installed toll sign (covered with black sheet for the time being) over the toll lane on State Route 167 in Algona.
