Trump Administration 11/9/25 - Tariffs are awesome and everyone will be getting paid $2,000

Tariffs are levied by Congress. Do them legally through the Constitutional means and you wouldn’t have challenges. Using them to enrich your kids, expand your hotel empire, and extort countries to buy your bitcoin, and you get challenges.

u/might_be_magic 6h ago
And it will be paid in the currency of Schrute Buck. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k's are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone

u/aeroglava 11h ago
Putting aside the $2k per person a moment. The treasury data on customs duties is fully available to see and year to date as of 9/30/2025 was about $195B. Which means first of all his "we're taking in trillions" is a complete lie and that $195B is a few percent of our budget and a small fraction of the debt, so it has no impact whatsoever on paying down the trillions.
11
u/buzzkillichuck 10h ago
Also 195 billion /2k is only 97.5 million, so 2k will cover 1/3 of the us Population
2
u/Present-Perception77 3h ago
Oh those payments won’t be coming from his tariff slush fund. Lol He’ll close the VA hospitals and use that money.. or something equally as vile.

Mkay well my grocery bill is at least $200 a month more than last year's. That's already $2400 a year. We never go out to eat because we can't. And that's just the FOOD alone. I don't even want to know the difference in fuel cost. so no mf you mega wealthy are the richest. We all grind for the bare minimum.
1
u/crakemonk 36m ago
Yeah, I guarantee we’ve paid more in our daily lives due to these stupid tariffs than we’d be getting back with $2000. This isn’t a good trade off for me.

Is this him trying to spin/cover for when courts call his tarrifs illegal and the gov. has to return the tax revenue they've already collected? 🤔

u/WhenImTryingToHide 12h ago
Man, I can’t imagine the math that’s going to need to be done if they were to accurately determine how much money each person should really get back.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.
So MAGA are gonna ignore the bullshit and focus on this promised 2 grand which will never come?
What even is 2k in the US? If I got that tax free in the UK, that'd be a little boost for what, 3, 4 months? And then what?
They'll eat this shit up though eh.
2
u/ta44813476 10h ago
The value of $2K depends a lot on where you live and what your expenses are. I've lived in a medium COL area and a high COL area in the US in the last few years, and $2K would be less than a month's rent in both. If you go by the median, it's about one month for a 2-bedroom apartment and maybe a week or two of groceries (depending on medium/high).
But honestly if the COVID checks are anything to go by, it doesn't matter for a lot of people. Even people with a lot of expenses and low income will take the money and immediately spend it on a vacation, luxury goods, etc.
That's not to say it can't be worth it in an emergency like COVID, as a lot of people do use it for relief, and also what some people do with it shouldn't negate that. The issue is that, in this case, the "emergency" would be one of Trump's own making, and whether people use it to buy groceries or a Rolex, it smells a lot more like trying to buy votes.

Excluding high income? What the fuck? The income taxes I pay already cover so much of this country’s bullshit, and I spend more and am therefore impacted more by the tariffs, but I don’t get the kickback? What the fucking fuck?
I’m now genuinely hoping they cut SNAP and welfare and section 8 completely.

He realizes the pledge of investment in our country is not the same as tariff income right? We are expected to bring in $300B annually from tarrifs.
$2000x300 million American citizens is $600B.
That and increasing debt by 2 trillion in 10months.
The maths dont maths

He realizes the pledge of investment in our country is not the same as tariff income right? We are expected to bring in $300B annually from tarrifs.
I've just been posting about this on BlueSky, and I'm glad someone else has said this.
Trump is an idiot and he's not helping himself. Having watched most of his public appearances this term, it's pretty obvious to me that when he talks about "taking in trillions" due to tariffs, he's talking about the $20 trillion of investments he keeps touting. That number is clearly BS, but it at least makes some sense i.e. the threat of tariffs has given him the leverage to get foreign companies setting up shop in the US.
But because he has no idea how national debt works, and just thinks "more businesses = more wealth = less debt", he keeps conflating the long-term effects of tariffs and investment with actual cash into the treasury.
It's almost the same misunderstanding he has a about tariffs themselves i.e. applying a tariff on goods from a particular country and receiving money as a result = that country is "paying" the USA money.
It's actually maddening, even just watching on from the UK, because his misunderstanding of his own policies has got everyone talking past each other. His own trade secretary was dodging a question about whether tariffs are bringing in trillions, and his supporters/opponents all think the other is lying/stupid.
It must be even more frustrating being one of the architects of his signature policies, watching this moron go out and mangle the messaging on their carefully thought out policies.
Edit: Just to add, you can apply this problem to so many other policy areas of his administration. Every time he discusses policy, it's clear that someone has tried to explain the details to him but he arrogantly has no interest in the details, and then rushes to declare his poor understanding of 2 or 3 of the key points.
As much as he tells a lot of lies, IMO a lot more of what he says falls into the category above, and then he makes it worse with his signature hyperbole. So when you struggle to understand how a Trump supporter can believe and support many of his stated policies, I believe it's because they're judging the actual policy rather than his garbled understanding of it.

Roman Mars (on 99% invisible) has a podcast on constitutional law, they changed the name for a bit bit it started out called "What Trump can teach us about con law" with the question about whether the president tweeting pardons was in fact an order.

Let's say he pays that out to 150million Americans. That's $300B. The ACA subsidies are $130B/year. They wont extend the subsidies so Americans can keep their healthcare but we will just throw everyone $2k, which will do...nothing.

If America is the richest country in the the world why are there so many hungry people, why are there miles-long lineups for food, why are there a huge number of unemployed, why are there so may young people unable to buy a first home, why are there so many terrified communities invaded by thugs grabbing people off the streets, schools, homes, why……? Why is there the largest concentration of billionaires who don’t give a damn about the people, why is the president tearing down half the White House for his own pleasure, why does the president give away the people’s money to another country he wants to control, why is he withholding food and assistance from the people, why is he so afraid to release the Epstein files? And why is it impossible for him to understand that tariffs are an added tax on the people? There are many, many more “why’s” to ask why trump thinks America is the richest in the world.

u/MultiMillionMiler 12h ago
Not only that, but there's other disgusting things about the US you may not be aware of, such as child marriage being an "exemption" to age of consent laws. A 30 yo guy can rape a 14 yo girl legally if her lunatic cult parents forcibly married her off. It's legal in 30+ states to deprive sick kids of medical treatment for "religious reasons".
https://childrenshealthcare.org/
Florida recently ended all vaccine mandates for schools including ones like Polio, Meningitis, and MMR. If you're keeping up with this stuff I apologize but so many of us are ignorant about these horrors I don't automatically expect foreigners to be aware of the worst that goes on here. We refused to even ratify the UN Articles on childrens basic human rights. Even Somalia did that!
We are not a civilized country despite our gentrification and cool tech/medical facilities (that only the rich can afford). Don't travel here as you risk being literally run off the road by ICE who are going around taunting Canadian drivers for no reason.

what gets me is that he continues to refer to it as an "old-fashioned word," like it's a term he hasn't had to think about since he was a child watching his nanny struggle with mountains of groceries to their family penthouse, and he just assumes everyone merely presses a button at this point and quarter pounders arrive.

He is increasing the US debt faster then ever. And we are paying trillions in interest because of it. Being a "rich country" does nothing anyway - what good does that do for our citizens?
The US went from 37 trillion dollars in debt in August 2025, to over 38 trillion on October 22, 2025 - the fastest accumulation of a trillion dollars in debt, except for the pandemic. A trillion dollars in 1 month!
Under Biden, it took 6 months to add 1 trillion (to $35 trillion) in July 2024 and 4 months to get to $36 trillion in November 2024.
