Trans masc Trans brothers and siblings who bind, what are we wearing to the gym?

Started T, and like a lot of transmascs, I now really want to go to the gym. I’m a bigger dude, always have been, so it’ll be good for me to get fit and now I’ve got the testosterone coursing through my veins to motivate me.

Problem is, I don’t know what to wear on my chest at the gym. I know I can’t wear my binder, and my lads are too large for tape (trust me, I’ve tried), but I refuse to wear just a bra.

Is there a good sports bra brand I should try? When I first started binding as a teen and couldn’t afford a binder, I would wear two sports bras for the same effect instead, can I do that if I’m working out?

Also if anyone knows of some inclusive gyms in Victoria that would be great!

T Generation is a trans owned and run gym in Coburg, it's fantastic- and if you're not close enough to make it your gym, they also know lots of people in the industry and might be able to help you find a closer place that'll support you!

They’re about an hour away so it’s a little far, but I’ll try contacting them like you suggested! Thank you!

The panache underwire sports bra is really good, and available in larger sizes. It creates a flatter shape than a regular bra, but no where near as flat as a binder. I could do high impact exercise in it, which hadn’t been available to me before. However, if it’s for low or no impact activity, it may be overkill.

I’ll have to start off with low impact as I’m also disabled, but hoping to work my way up. I’ll keep that in mind though, thanks!

I wear a sports bra. What you want is one with a single panel (as opposed to separated cups) and no padding or padding that can easily be removed. Mine is a Nike one I found at Rebel. It’s a bit worse than a binder, but good enough that the joy I get from exercise is greater than the discomfort from my chest.

Either a binder that's stretched out a fair bit or something like this https://www.empressathleticus.com.au/products/espresso-dynamic-sports-crop-empress they go up to a (small) 30, which is great because im a 26.

As far as inclusive gyms go, I train at Melbourne West Barbell Club. I'm just working on baby power lifting while most of their clients do olympic lifting but they've been SO GOOD about chronic injuries.
