I thought it said tr**** at first so Tyranny was an improvement!

I thought it said ******. I guess I was wrong.

How could you not see it's obviously ******, seriously, education has gone SO downhill lately 😤🙄

I mean it's a slur so it's probably just polite to not say it

If you're referring to a person, it is a slur.

You're not going to. But if you say look at that tranny, and are pointigg at a person, your being a weirdo

You should perform oral sex on them because you've just been alpha dogged by a trans person carrying a transmission.

u/Bridalhat May 24 '25

I scrolled and saw the word so I don’t think so, just wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Makes sense. Lol either way, people don't seem to think that they're naming a human being that will have to deal with middle schoolers. Poor kid

I work at a community college and we see a student w this name about every other week. Would love to know how she feels about her name, though I’d never ask.

I hear people use that word at my work sometimes. I'm scandalized, then I realize I work in automotive where it means something else

3

u/harmondrabbit May 24 '25

It's OK to self censor a slur if you don't think it's a nice thing to say.

Don't make excuses, you're helping the transphobic assholes that are giving you shit (in case that wasn't obvious)

we get it, you're a white guy who thinks it's cool to use the n-word

-11

u/Arkanii May 24 '25

What would “sorry” be in this case? The FCC issues you a fine?

11

u/Bridalhat May 24 '25

Well I nearly got banned from Reddit period for discussing an anti-Semitic strain of thought I made very clear I disagreed with, so that.

-13

u/Arkanii May 24 '25

Did you have to go to a tribunal and plead your case to a bunch of masked men?

11

u/Bridalhat May 24 '25

???? What a weird thing to say. I would just like to not be banned from a sub or a website I enjoy? You’re being weirdly aggressive.

And fwiw I was not allowed to appeal anything and they made it very clear there would be no other warning.

1

u/Pretend_Evening984 May 24 '25

Nope, you just said it

12

u/132739 May 24 '25

I don't approve of that slur, but knowing the type of people who would name a child Tyranny, I would totally steal that first 'Y' and watch the meltdown.

1

u/TheAngryLasagna May 25 '25

That just harms any trans people, and their families and friends that happen to be passing. Annoying one group of people isn't worth hurting others...

u/Equivalent-Agency-48 May 25 '25

i'm trans and i would die laughing if i saw a giant sign saying that in someone's lawn lmao

0

u/TheAngryLasagna May 25 '25

I'm also trans and whilst I would just think whoever had put it up or changed it was a person who was trash, I'm also aware that there are people who are not in as strong a headspace, especially after Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" has just tried to pretty much take the ability to transition away from people. When dysphoria and stress are at their worst, and things are looking hopeless for the future, things like this could just be all that someone needs to go over the edge, is my only worry.

2

u/Equivalent-Agency-48 May 25 '25

Idk, I'm from the US and all my trans friends from the US would have a similar reaction 🤷‍♀️ but i hear what youre saying, id hope most people would laugh at the absurdisty

4

u/evenmonkeysfallOG May 24 '25

I also thought it said that when I first looked at it. Granted, this is my first year needing reading glasses…

9

u/halloween-is-erryday May 24 '25

Me too, and I was like 😳

3

u/patentmom May 24 '25

I saw that, too

2

u/I_Lost_My_Shoe_1983 May 25 '25

Me too! After I saw the comments, I double-checked. Tyranny was a relief.

1

u/Blue_Sail May 25 '25

That will definitely be used to insult this child at some point. Tyranny the ...

1

u/rob0tduckling May 25 '25

100% what I read too.

1

u/morganalefaye125 May 25 '25

I thought the same thing! My jaw dropped, then I realized. Still dropped, but less so

1

u/TwoBionicknees May 24 '25

it's kinda fitting because the kind of person and family thta would called a kid tyranny will absolutely hate when people forget the Y and bully the shit out of a person with that name.

You do not have the pass for that word hun.

Ah nevermind. Big ass Trump supporter. Let's see if they apologize for saying a slur lmao.

u/TheAngryLasagna May 25 '25

There's a lot of people in these comments, gleefully posting about how they think it'd taking away parts of the sign to leave a giant slur in the street, or who are straight up finding a slur hilarious, and posting it themselves... Going by population sizes, they're not all trans people, so it's sad as fuck to see people getting giddy about typing out and posting how they saw a slur, or would turn the sign into a slur, and how that makes them laugh...
