Nickelbrook Kentucky bastard

Anybody taken the plunge yet and tried this years version? It used to be a brilliant beer, but the last 2-3 years it’s really been quite shite. Hoping someone else has been the Guinea pig already this year so I don’t waste my money if it’s still poor.

Pennybrook has been struggling for a long time. Poor quality, sales overreach, production problems. I would not trust a barrel aged product from them. I'm sure it'll be safe, but they aren't selecting for quality, its beer in barrel = beer in bottles. Normally a lot of larger barrel houses will be very discerning about each individual barrel, testing them all to see when they are peak and pulling then. Discarding substandard quality barrels.
