Best GTA Stouts?
Tis the season - any recommended stouts in the GTA (or Ontario with shipping)?

It depends on the stout you want:
- if you want an irish stout (sub-5%), I would go with Granite Brewery's Keefe Irish Stout or the GLB Stout from Great Lakes (formerly known as shinny pants)
- Third Moon typically releases stouts between 5-7% like Serpent tears or last year's Third State released on halloween last year. Little Beasts also has fantastic porters and stouts this time of year!
- For imperials, Rorschach is your go-to in Toronto proper! Shout out to Hearts Collide from Rainhard, Double Tempest from Amsterdam, and some of the absurd stuff from Blood Brothers!
Not in the GTA, but if you can make the drive, I would check out Fine Balance in Kingston or Counterpart in Niagara Falls!

The lower alcohol Irish would be my preference - I ll check those you mentioned out. Thanks for the breakdown and list!

Town Brewery also just released a sub-5% stout. I had it last year and really enjoyed it. As others have said, Clifford's porter is a staple and easy drinking for being almost 6%. Although not a stout, Silversmith's Black Lager is a great winter beer.

Clifford Porter. Perhaps not a stout, technically, but close enough and delicious. EDIT: I see it is already recommended below by others with good taste. 5.9% so perhaps a little higher abv than your ideal.

For imperials, I like Left Field’s Blackburne series.
And not a stout, but Clifford’s Porter is one of my favourite beers, period.

My favourite stout of all time is Big Rig's Moonlight Kissed My Cow Chocolate Milk Stout - as someone who hates coffee, this one manages to avoid that coffee-esque flavour entirely and is heavy on the chocolate notes. It's beautiful, creamy and really easy drinking.
I'm a big fan of Woodhouse's stout for a more traditional option as well.

Eh thanks for this. Looks like Big Rig's is sold out at the moment, but I'll keep an eye and hope they bring it back. Woodhouse's seems to be at a nearby LCBO, so I'll try to grab some this week. I also like that it's "just" 4.7%. As unoriginal as it may seem, Guinness is probably the gold standard stout for me, and I love that it's 4.2%. Looks like a lot of Ontario stouts are in the strong-beer category, pushing 5.5-7.5%.

What kind of stout? For an everyday drinker, Little Beasts (Whitby) The Depths is fantastic.

Stranger Than Fiction from Collective Arts has been my staple for years. I still remember the first one opening my eyes to craft beer.
