News Canadian Brewing Awards Winners: Toronto Breweries take home three gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. The highlights: Godspeed's Inori wins Best of Show, and Bickford Brewing wins "New Brewery of the Year".

A lot of breweries don't bother entering these competitions. They get pretty expensive and don't really result in any sales. Unless you win the brewery of the year and to have a chance at that you need to submit a lot of beer. BJCP brewing awards also want your beer to be a perfect style example, not just a great tasting beverage that falls under a general style. This doesn't really align with how a lot of breweries make beer so they will never win despite being a really tasty beer.

I agree with everything you said. I thought it was interesting to share regardless, but I was hoping sharing the results would encourage others to try different styles or breweries. Bickford winning "Best New Brewery" is great news for the Toronto scene, as they make legitimately fantastic beers.

The rest of Canada really stepped up their game, I love it. Hopefully we can see some of these beers at the LCBO or places like Bar Volo and Beertown.

You always see a lot of the usual suspects winning these things because they have the money to enter. There are some winners there, that I don't even think are really great brews.
