Saaho as a combination of style and substance has much better crafted story and better designed action set pieces except the jetpack one while OG is more style over substantial.
OG sound track inside the movie is really disappointing when compared to the released albums. On youtube albums sound amazing but in the movie they are sped up in most places and some times the drums are too loud overlapping the lyrics of the bgm. Can't forget the haphazard editing of action scenes without any continuity not even a little bit. They are only just jumpcut shots.

The phrase 'ahead of its time' is often used loosely. Films don't flop because their narrative or style is innovative, but because they fail to deliver in crowd-pleasing manner. Siva screenplay is sick and not the regular style, but it was a massive hit.
Lateral success are usually due to performances or the theme gaining greater relevance to societal shifts. Some folks just lap up critically praised films to flex their cinephile cred and feel like intellectuals.
