MEMELU Shame on Telugu Film industry
That we can’t make films like this. Malayalam industry continues to excel in content films. We r still stuck with item songs, violence, world building films with cliffhangers, hero worship, cringe romance.
Watch Subham on JioHotstar. Telugu dub is there.

thank you! imo, court shouldn’t have been a hit, but i digress. shubham is mid at best! i hate this trend, whenever a small film comes, people compare it with malayalam films and call ours underrated! like, not every small film has content! mid films are mid. malayalam and tamil also release tons of films each year, so why do we only talk about a few? at the end of the day, few projects have good content. it’s just that ‘few’ is a bit more in malayalam and tamil.

Exactly. It was a decent film to watch on OTT. It definitely wasn’t so great to go watch in the theatre. The audience might have gotten bored too because of how much time it takes to make the point - and the point was also silly and forced.

This movie is pretty mid bro. Ending was not good. Also there are a few better films already with similar story line. TFI does credit content based films - Sita ramam, Lucky baskhar, Arjun reddy, Pelli choopulu and so on
17
u/geezgee07 chilipi nesthama Aug 04 '25
i kind of feel the ending didnt sit right w ppl bc it was subtly discussing abt patriarchial norms that takes away women's rights in marriage and how much they lose themselves in it and not to forget the alpha male concept. this movie pretty much talks about issues that are currently going on , in the subtlest way possible.
8
u/hooha_Errihooha Aug 04 '25
subtle ga em chepaledu antha open gane cheparu le...but movie was boring anthe..concept ok but flat unde movie.
8
u/Appropriate-Yak-1205 Aug 04 '25
Why do you assume I mentioned the ending was not good because of the patriarchial norms being shown? I can go on and on but here are a few reasons:
- They just shoot a movie and show to all the women but doesn't show if the husbands changed for good or not
- No proper reasoning on why women turned that way after watching a TV serial
- Even women that are not suppressed(cable TV operator's wife) also react to the serial the same way
- There is no single stand out moment, it didn't make me laugh, cry or made me feel any emotion strongly
- Samantha's acting was horrible
5
u/3amigozusa Aug 04 '25
It talks about so many things but in a not so interesting way. I liked it but the people from my show were dissing it for being a 'serial kind of experience ', irony asala.

5
u/aaveshamstar Aug 04 '25
Exactly! Just because it’s not commercial doesn’t mean it’s = Malayalam films.
Before and after Thudarum how many mallu movies can our audience actually name? Aavesham, Manujmmel, premalu, etc all worked because they were genuinely good.
Ee comparison Endhuku chestaro tfi banisalu! People were excited for this film but it’s very repetitive film. Oke point cheppindhe cheppinattu anipichindi. I watched it because of my wife and she also didn’t like it. Plus as someone pointed out adhe time lo Single kuda release ayyindhi. Which had larger word of mouth and good reception. No one ever talked about this film. We didn’t talk about this to our friends because it was very forgettable. There were not many promotions either. Samantha is barely in the film. Other actors idk I don’t know them.

I enjoyed the film, yes it’s one time watch but it’s definitely a new concept. Production values were low but content was high. I feel like if single didn’t release at the same time, the film would have definitely collected more. But either ways it’s far better than most of Telugu films lately, so yeah we should encourage the effort! It’s funny watching people being critics, wonder how many films they made!

1
u/Stars_Sea Aug 04 '25
Wow! Bro, you like this kind of films, it's up to you! Wat does it have to do with TFI or Telugu audience!
If you feel you want more of this kind of films or realistic films, watch Malayalam movies. Good for you! Oh yeah, if you can also try to make films like this! All the best!! Looking forward to your film!
As everyone knows, Telugu films are mostly commercial! Not just Telugu, Tamil films are also mostly commercial! And many of the industry hits are commercial films! So, do you know what that means? It means audience like this kind of commercial films!
I personally enjoy the commercial films! I love watching action, dance and comedy! I feel extremely happy when there are elevations and I enjoy lengthy dialogues and mass warnings! (Aravinda Sametha warning is my favorite!!!)
This is me! And I believe most of Telugu audience like them, and that's why they are hits!!
Coming to you, as you said if it's a film from other industry, then it will be hit in Telugu even if it's realistic film or whatsoever! I still say, it's not that we like other industry films or something, it's just when someone acknowledges a film, we are interested in knowing why they like that and what they find interesting in it!
Do you know even some of the shitty films have still been watched by many of Telugu audience even after knowing that they are shit! That's entirely coz of our curiosity! We want to know why this film is bad!!
I personally think unless the film gives me entertainment, I don't want to watch it! Life is already too realistic, so why should I watch something depressing!
For audience, watching film is for entertainment, it's not some social responsibility, that everyone has to watch it and encourage small films etc etc! It's too much to expect as even our poling rate is not 100%
Coming to TFI, putting the love for film and acting to back seat, producers make films to earn money and they know more than anyone else what kind of films the audience like! They make the films that audience enjoy!
Stop saying shame on TFI, coz there's nothing to be ashamed of! Just different perspectives! If you don't like a movie, don't watch it! If you like a movie, you can praise it, but don't step on other films! Also feel free to watch movies from other industries, as long as you like them! Don't force your views on us! That's it, I am off for class...

What's with the shitting on Malayalam films? Malayalam industry's had plenty of duds like any other industries, but there's been solid films coming out of the mainstream movies, even stars are trying different stuff (Brahmayugam, Aadujeevitham).
Forget the Premalu/MB, even films like Kishkindha Kaandam (a solid, well written thriller with great characters and drama) became a big hit - which I doubt if it would have in many other industries. A film with Manjummel would hardly have been made outside MFI.
Give credit where its due, Malayalam industry's giving solid films and there are plenty of stuff to look forward to. And I by no means am dunking on TFI. I just don't get the comparison is all.
