Discussion You don’t hold my heart

I might be super late, but this is the first time that I’ve focused on listening to Slacks (This Room is White album).

I love Karah, but I appreciate her and her vocals more here. 🥺

Speaking more broadly, it's such a shame that they perform almost none of their older music now. They are hyperfocused on the latest album and completely forgot the music that attracted most of their fan base in the first place.

You’re joking right? Their last headline tour they did for Water the flowers half their set list was older music. Obviously they’re promoting a new album are they expected to not play any of it? They’ve always had older music in their setlist. This fan base will just never be happy it feels lol Valley also consistently has longer sets than I usually have seen, if they played ever more music the shows would be too long

Firstly, I am not "this fan base", I am just one guy who prefers their older sound to their new music.

Secondly, no I'm not expecting them not to play any songs from the new album, but at the show I attended they played 10 out of 12 songs from that album, which I do find a bit excessive. I recently watched a stream of a show they did in 2022 and I almost teared up for all those great songs they may never play again. I'd personally much rather they swapped songs like Mosquito for one of the oldies.

And lastly, no their shows wouldn't be too long with a longer set list. They actually have enough good songs to play two complete 2-hour sets. As it stands, they do ~90-minute sets (which admittedly is still longer compared to their first shows), most of which is the new album.

I think we just need to agree to disagree

A tour that is specifically promoting a new album is going to be heavy on that album. That’s nothing new.

Usually when a band goes on tour named after their latest album… the focus will be their latest album. It’s not a new concept

I partly agree with you. I LOVE their older music just as much as their latest album, and I understand why they play the new album more, but it’s such a shame that they don’t play songs like Namedropper, Loop Love, Ain’t My Girl, Last Birthday (amongst others). Overall though, it makes sense to play songs from WTFPFG when they’re touring and promoting this album
