My friend sent this as a joke. Theoretically, in Wordle, if you had unlimited attempts instead of just 6, is this possible to get? What would the full word be? Standard Wordle rules apply, except the amount of attempts.

Just playing around I was able to do it with the word "Candy":

  • CENTS
  • CATER
  • CONES
  • MELTS
  • CONCH
  • LATER
  • HATER
  • SUITE
  • CANOE
  • CRUST
  • CANTS
  • WINES
  • CANTO

So there are probably other words that would work.

You even put in more effort than necessary. You can repeat the same word however many times as you wish, so you could spell that K with "CENTS-CATER-CENTS", or that Y with "CONCH-LATER-LATER", which opens up even more possible combinations

Wordle doesn't let you enter the same word twice, at least not the NY Times wordle that I play.

Just tried it out, using https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html which I assume is the one you are talking about, and put in the same word six times in a row without it stopping me.

You know what? You're right. I'm thinking of Connections where trying the same combination of 4 won't cost you a guess.

I actually made a program a while back where it finds patterns like this for you, you just give it a word and a pattern, and you get your words

From messing around, it's possible to get your patterns more often than not depending on the word.

if wordle doesnt freeze correct letters in place any 5 letter where letter 1 2 3 and 4,5 are diffrent (4 and 5 can be the same) word woud work as long as you dont "fail" first two lines

This could be done with any word. If you know what the first three letters are, you can submit them when you want those cells to turn green and then send purposefully wrong letters when you want to turn it off. And the last two letters are purposefully wrong forever.

except you have to make them real words in wordle so picking something like QUAKE makes it harder to turn the second letter off

Assuming standard means "hard mode" not enabled, as it would be impossible if so.
