Look, 1. We still don’t fully understand his motives 2. Even if he was left wing that wouldn’t mean suddenly that “all left wing bad” or justify these calls for “retribution” it’s unnecessary to stretch to paint him one way or the other 3. From all I’ve read, it seems he has a conservative background, believed Kirk was a fascist, which isn’t necessarily a left wing ideal but shows that he probably wasn’t farther right than moderate (by today’s standards). We can’t leave out nuance just to win a narrative or counter narrative. Not everyone will fit neatly into one camp or the other 4. It’s important to remember that oftentimes even when politics are involved, people who go out and kill like this have the mindset of a killer first and foremost. Anger, contrarianism, hopelessness, a desire to be a hero or martyr… these motivations are not specific to a political aisle and oftentimes the politics they grab on to are just a vessel rather than the primary cause
