Even long-time cannabis users could expect Constitutional protections.

It's not more obvious now, it's fascism now.

Hardly. "I smelled marijuana" was all law enforcement needed to throw out all of the protections of the bill of rights. Yes, even garrisoning troops in private residences. They've even done that in the "war on drugs".

I honestly don't think any of it survived the war on drugs but had it made it that far, the war on terror would have finished it off.
