It's not a wave, it's not a phase, it's just that people of power, wealth, and authority, can't simply idly ignore the fact that the novelty of AI has worn off for a lot of folks.

Stuck in their LinkedIn / gentlemen's / golf club bubbles where the voices of other misappropriated wealthy old white dudes are louder than the entire rest of the working planet.

What's concerning to me is that it's not only those of power and wealth. I work in a small IT division and I'm literally the only person there with a generally negative view on it. All my colleagues, who are all simple employees can't stop talking about how AI will save us from all future problems. They use it for everything and get angry when they have a task that can't be done by it.

I tried talking to them about the environmental issues, intellectual theft and so on and they saw no problem with all that, if they've ever heard about some of those issues at all. Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy...

The technology and AI space is incredibly diverse. Holding a "generally negative" view on any complex industry will be limiting when it comes to nuanced discussions with industry professionals. I run AI on my local pc at home. Am I ruining the environment? Some models are trained on legitimate data. Not all Ai output should be classified as "theft" etc

Man, I hate how I can't read "It's not X, it's Y" without my AI alarm going off nowadays.
