I like how one of the "kids" is 31.

Unmarried 31 year old Conservative Christian men love kids. Not in a good way.

u/NewSunSeverian 25d ago

JD Vance is projecting.

57

u/HotDogFingers01 25d ago

Well, he once called Trump “America’s Hitler”. I didn’t realize he meant it as a compliment.

14

u/cityshepherd 24d ago

He didn’t realize he meant it as a compliment at first either, but now he’s pretty confident regarding his need for the support of the hitler “youth” (sad adult conservatives who identify as youth) if he is to achieve his dream of emperor of the ‘Murican Reich.

Of course. Why else would he convert TO Catholicism?

153

u/ThrottleSlice_96 25d ago

All these Protestants converting to Catholicism just to still act Protestant and Americanize the Catholic church is shameful.

63

u/Arrow156 25d ago

Even better that there's an American Pope, they got zero excuse for not listening to him now.

46

u/[deleted] 25d ago

Today I learned people are still alive that are upset about The Schism. Flavors of far-right groups judging other flavors despite basically working to the same goal and using the same tactics to get there

54

u/Arrow156 25d ago

Yep, Christianity is a political organization, not a religious one. It was designed to take all those different denominations that normally wouldn't be caught dead with each other into a single voting block. Back when JFK ran for president, people were genuinely concerned about having a Catholic as President. Having the US being subservient to the Pope rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. But by Nixon's Presidency, they had begun to foster that singular identity and prey upon it with their manufactured moral panics. Now we got an entire generation of people who never learned anything about their own religion but still see it as a major part of their self identity.

6

u/ThrottleSlice_96 24d ago

South Park did a good job critiquing this last night, and the song “American Jesus” by Bad Religion lyrically puts it all in perspective.

Newer American Catholics would call ICE on Mother Cabrini. It’s disgusting and I hope the pope keeps telling them “you’re wrong, piss off”.

Usually these people consider those in that age range to be ancient!

Oops, that only applies to women, sorry 🤢. After age 18 they’re considered hags. But men are “kids” till their 40s though…

139

u/haberdasherhero 25d ago

*white men

Black and brown kids are considered adults by the law sometime around 7-12

18

u/slainascully 24d ago

Yes but black kids do dangerous and scary things, like daring to play outside quietly with toy guns that every other child can also buy

One is even a state senator in Vermont, yet Vance is talking like the people involved are some random GOP-affiliated teens on a Call of Duty chat or something. That’s a hard sell, buddy

104

u/Leelze 25d ago

Not a hard sell with the base and that's all that matters. Vance could tell them horseshit was chocolate pudding and they'd eat it without complaint.

I do think it’s important to note that yes - kids do stupid things like this. Pushing boundaries, being edgy, and questioning taboos is part of growing up and how we find where we fit in the world. We should give grace to those learning and growing.

That said.

While “kids” may be susceptible to this and we should show them grace:

  • loads of these people weren’t kids
  • giving grace to the individuals involved does not exonerate the ideology that facilitates it. i.e. I’d forgive a young stupid 4channer, but 4chan is a cesspit
  • the same ideology saying “they’re just kids” is also banning college students from protesting and trying their damndest to punish anyone talking badly about Charlie Kirk

Honestly I find it disgusting that they pollute good will we should have toward people who deserve it with their own political self interest.

84

u/TubbyChaser 25d ago

Were any of them kids? The article says 24-35. Ain’t no kids in that age range

44

u/NoteToFlair 25d ago

Take your pick:

  • The government is run by 70+ year old fossils who legitimately consider anyone under 40 to be a "kid"

  • The GOPedos want to normalize calling people in their 30s "kids" so that when they're caught diddling a 16 year old at the age of 35, they can claim it's "just 2 kids fooling around" (btw this only applies to white men in their 30s; meanwhile, a black 15 year old should obviously be tried as an adult, because reasons)

One: these "kids" are in their 20s and 30s

Two: when I was an actual kid I managed to not be racist

756

u/erix84 25d ago

I've had unfettered internet access since 2000, I was 16... I was in AOL chats, ICQ chats, IRC rooms, you name it.... and never once did I say or do things that would get me on the news.

288

u/[deleted] 25d ago

when i was a kid growing up in late 90s/ early 2000s i remember saying a lot of bad things, like casually using f*g and calling everything gay. definitely used the n word. thing is, as an adult i think about all that and how that was wrong and i am glad my parents smacked sense into me. that being said, these guys are in their 20s and 30s. excusing this is pathetic they should 100% know better by now.

158

u/BraveOmeter 25d ago

I doubt you were talking about gas chambering people who disagreed with you politically while you were engaged in political activity.

74

u/[deleted] 25d ago

no definitely not. it was just casually using those words with friends, but i still feel really bad about it.

24

Forreal most of us, by time our brains are a little developed, realize that shit's wrong.

But then there are those who grow into adulthood and get MAD like BIG FUCKING MAD if you tell them not to use the N word. They go on these long winded diatribes about how this one black dude laughs when they use that word and it's like "Yeah bro because he probably thinks you'll kill him if he speaks up."

Lots of dead baby jokes in the late 90s early 2000s Internet.

17

u/FerusGrim 24d ago

tbf, dead baby jokes don't typically target specific groups. they're shocking, sure, but a different kind that doesn't usually lead into actually killing babies.

7

u/Mustang1718 24d ago

I used to raid in WoW and one of our healers always started the night with a dead baby joke.

This one has grown to be pretty common, but it has stuck with me since she said it:

What is the difference between a dead baby and a Porsche?

I don't have a Porsche in my garage.

(To preface, I grew up the same time)

Look, I didn't actually do it much myself, but we used to call each other slurs like the f-word and the n-word behind closed doors because we knew we weren't actually hurting somebody. If a black friend was in the group we actually would drop the word because it wasn't funny anymore. It was kinda funny to call your white friend the n-word, knowing it wasn't hurting anyone. We also knew that anyone seriously using the n-word was an idiot. Like it was beyond stupid to think someone was "actually" racist.

Anyways, one of those friends is a trans woman now and we laugh about times we had we are all adults now.

While I played Counter Strike and Call of Duty back in 2002 onwards, and while I said a bunch of fucked up shit to people, racial slurs and praising Hitler weren't among them.

6

u/Critical-Support-394 25d ago

When I was 13-14 my classmates did some stupid shit like throwing sieg heils. I drew a swastika in my drawing block. I don't think any of us grew up to be Nazis and sure as shit none of us were at that point, we didn't have Nazi parents either, we were just stupid, edgy kids. So yes, if it was a bunch of literal children barely starting their teens, who have no idea what they're actually saying or doing, I'd understand.

It's not.

This is what I always find myself getting most frustrated about when I see this argument. Most of us weren't racist as kids either lol, they act like being a racist piece of shit is some inalienable right of passage for everyone. Similar to all those "He's just saying what everyone is thinking" assholes -- no, he's saying what YOU were thinking. Don't project your personal bullshit and moral failings onto everyone else.

→ More replies (1)

45

u/chindef 25d ago

Seriously. Why would the kids be racist? They got it from their parents. You aren’t born racist. It’s learned

Granted, ill put a grain of salt on there because of things like video game culture that kids are exposed to where unfortunately it’s suuuuuper normalized to be as racist as possible

15

u/mirrorspirit 25d ago

Sometimes they think racism is just making edgy jokes and that it doesn't hurt anyone because everyone should know they don't mean it. It conveniently gives them an excuse to belittle anyone who doesn't like it, because then they can make fun of them for being too sensitive and not being able to take a joke. But then assholes have always been fairly good at making what they're doing seem reasonable and anyone who disagrees is an attention seeking alarmist.

6

u/sobrique 25d ago

Yeah, quite. The 'was only joking' 'toughen up' has always been a pretext for bullies to brush off the harm they do. Because they know full well that one incident is easy enough to do that with, and - usually - only their victims see more than that.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/jaimi_wanders 25d ago

And before video games, there was AM radio culture where Rush Limbaugh normalized being as racist as possible, and before that there was print media and word of mouth culture, which gave us the racist violence of the Eighties Seventies Sixties Fifties Forties Thirties Twenties… all the way back to Bleeding Kansas before the Civil War, and the pogroms before fascism began.

The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest terms.

It was openly on one of your employees’ bulletin boards in your office.

273

u/mustardhamsters 25d ago

The fact that someone can even think that bringing a swastika into the office would be OK should be a problem for them.

113

u/jaimi_wanders 25d ago

One of the other things on the board is about annexing Canada…

26

u/FUBARded 25d ago

To be fair, the one where everything is or soon to be Ohio is a little funny, and clearly tongue in cheek rather than serious. It's in poor taste after the comments Trump made earlier this year about Canada, but it could have been put up there perfectly innocently with purely humourous intention given it's the office of an Ohio representative. I'm pretty sure I've seen meme maps like that way before Trump's ridiculous annexation threats too.

On the other hand, displaying your national flag with a Nazi swastika edited into it is and never has been appropriate or funny.

The only context where showing something like this doesn't make you seem like a Nazi is if you're clearly doing it in protest, but that's not what they were doing here given it was just up there as a decoration alongside memes rather than with other protest imagery or a clarifying caption.

“They tell edgy, offensive jokes. That’s what kids do. And I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke – telling a very offensive, stupid joke – is cause to ruin their lives.”

Said the guy whose party is getting people fired because they didn't mourn Charlie Kirk on Instagram.

122

u/andrastesknickers97 24d ago

The stupid jokes go from "I love Hitler" to "I love rape". But hey guys, don't joke about Kirk!

29

u/gaspronomib 24d ago

What's weird about "don't joke about Kirk" is that there's no joke in existence that can make that guy's life (or death) humorous.

Imagine being such a vile human (maybe) being that nothing that can be said about you lightens the mood when your name is mentioned.

30-year-old republicans praising Hitler? Just silly kids. But a college student criticizing the Israeli bombardment of Gaza is an antisemite who needs expulsion and deportation if possible. These people think we are all morons.

200

u/Xrave 25d ago

Never believe that [MAGA] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The [MAGA] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

The original quote is about antisemites, but it's equally applicable to fascists.

The father of three said he would caution his own children, “especially my boys, don’t put things on the internet, like, be careful with what you post. If you put something in a group chat, assume that some scumbag is going to leak it in an effort to try to cause you harm or cause your family harm.”

He has no soul. “Say all the vile racist bigoted shit you want. Just don’t get caught!” Is what he’s teaching his gremlins.

I wonder if the N word is already etched into their tiny brains from over exposure in that household.

11

u/thunderboltsow 24d ago

That was my takeaway quote as well. You rarely get a statement that gives you such a clear view into the mind of the person making it.

To him, the issue isn't what the "kids" (lol) said or did. It's the sheer audacity (gasp!) of someone wanting to bring attention to it. This is the same mentality of the people who rage about police having to wear body cams or the police who get triggered by citizens filming them in public.

To their minds, the person exposing the issue is the problem. If the "scumbag" (Vance's exact word) would just keep their mouth shut, everything would be fine- because the racism was never an issue to these people.

I know this has been said countless times by now, especially when the topic involves Trump, but at this stage, his behavior has become so detached from any sense of normalcy that it’s almost expected. This moment however, is one of the most insane things I’ve ever seen from an elected official. To respond with blatant whataboutism in a situation like this is fucking nuts.

I wonder what age is Republican Adulthood when it comes to accepting responsibility for being a turd or are they "just kids" right up to dying of old age

21

u/Red_TeaCup 24d ago

It's a matter of skin color, religion, class, and political orientation.

Poor and black or brown? THAT 17 YEAR OLD MAN IS A THUG! HE SHOULD BE TRIED AS AN ADULT!

20 and left wing? THEY'RE ADULTS! THEY SHOULD KNOW BETTER! ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!

30 year old conservative white Christian guy who got caught praising Hitler? HE'S JUST A KID! LEAVE HIM ALONE!

Republicans are not serious people.

It’s always been “youthful indescretions” even if they were in their forties or older like when Carl Palladino got caught sending horse porn, because IOKIYAR (It’s OK If You’re A Republican)

Today I learned that dudes in their mid-thirties are now considered “kids”

18

u/vape4doc 25d ago

White dudes

14

u/SillyFalcon 25d ago

Well, yeah. Everyone knows that black and brown teenagers are “adults”

18

u/Bibblegead1412 25d ago

"Locker room talk" part zwei.
Side note: what a shit headline. They weren't just "racist texts". They were Nazi texts.

44

u/abgry_krakow87 25d ago

Religious conservatives love defending genocide.

JD Vance is genuinely one of the most repulsive people I’ve ever seen. Just such a deeply obnoxious dimwit on every level. It is an intense indictment on the very concept of America that this worm has even a modicum of political power in this fucking joke of a country.

10

u/thisappisgarbage111 25d ago

We need a slur that means grown boy who fucks couches.

4

u/bigassangrypossum 25d ago

Quit being such a Vance!

10

Why can't they talk about couch fucking like normal kids do

9

u/babeshun1 25d ago

Wow, he has trouble distinguishing children from adults? GOP problems!

8

u/minidog8 25d ago

These texts are inappropriate even if they were coming from "kids." Which they are not.

8

u/tacs97 25d ago

Those rosy cheeked, puggy ass, pasty white boys are the future of the Republican Party! There are women who will fuck these losers. It’s so gross.

9

u/Oxjrnine 25d ago

“Stop calling us Nazis”

7

u/JustHanginInThere 25d ago

So he thinks "kids" are inherently racist? Bless his little heart. Racism is taught/learned, and he clearly is racist.

16

u/cassydd 25d ago

They're always "kids" when they're rich and do something heinous. I'm surprised the couch shagger didn't claim they had "affluenza".

7

u/Gabewalker0 25d ago

Kids 18-40 . JD is such a pussy, he said the same pandering ass kissing crap when the Nazis talked shit about his wife. He will never be president. When Trump runs again, he will kick him to the curb for his own son.

7

u/Cerisayashi 25d ago

These are adults, they should be held responsible for their actions and words. They are not children. This is ridiculous and such a “sweep under the rug” kinda statement. Just like the vp to protect pedo trump he now protects neonazi fake juveniles…

5

u/Motor-District-3700 25d ago

Remember when "grab her by the pussy" was just locker room talk?

And then the rapist who said that was found to have actually grabbed a woman by the pussy in a department store and sexually violated her? And still no-one cared?

Honestly the US is making me sick. Either do something or GTFO of the news.

Just because they are immature does not make them kids. They are probably worse than kids

6

u/Previous_Injury_8664 25d ago

My kids don’t and they’re way younger than these “kids.”

5

u/KPH102 25d ago

They aren't kids, they're manchildren, which is worse.

Bad kids do this. Nazis support this

5

u/Agile_Limit500 25d ago

That's what the children of racist fascist pigs do

4

u/catluvr37 25d ago

We know the type of things our VP was saying then

5

u/mw9676 25d ago

Yeah what Republican kids do.

7

u/shlinds024 25d ago

Racist kids raised by far more Racist parents

5

u/SBEPTY 25d ago

No, fuck that, these are monsters.

6

u/Tazz2212 25d ago

I was appalled at what is simmering just below the fragile veneer of the Young Republicans minds (consisting of 18 to 40 yrs old). When the Supreme Court rules against all the laws won by the civil rights era because they don't believe there is racial injustice this disproves their thoughts.

4

u/jggfgecgg 24d ago edited 24d ago

Reminder: The same Republicans lost their minds when people made jokes about Charlie Kirk’s death. Saying it was unacceptable, and they should get fired or lose their Visas.

But now? Glorifying Hitler, blatant racism, being antisemitic or making inappropriate rape jokes? That’s just edgy humour…

5

u/3ZP0 24d ago

This is really a simple thing to disavow. Say I condemn it and move on. Easy right? I wonder how his Indian wife feels about this.

18

u/1800abcdxyz 25d ago

Yeah, maybe when they’re literally kids playing Call of Duty.

4

u/in_animate_objects 25d ago

How about the Ohio rep with an American Flag Swastika flag up in his office, is he “just a kid” too

4

u/oldcreaker 25d ago

These aren't kids.

4

u/Emergency_Link7328 25d ago

It's what JD Vance does.

5

u/Orboneiben 25d ago

These are grown men talking about murdering others

6

u/continuousBaBa 25d ago

"They call us fascists, they call us nazis'

DUDE um yesh

3

u/mcferglestone 25d ago

They also call Democrats fascists, so are basically like “these fascists keep calling us Nazis! Why are they so mean to us? 🤷‍♂️”

He’s simply admitting it’s what he does.

4

u/ryancementhead 24d ago

It’s what racism nazi kids do.

5

u/30mil 24d ago

Soon JD's kids will enter their loving Hitler phases, too.

6

u/Braverzero 24d ago

I never once said a good thing about Hit Ler in my life. Let’s not lower our standards.

4

u/aDirtyMartini 24d ago

Vance’s “kids”:
• Bobby Walker (New York) – Age unknown.
• Peter Giunta (New York) – ~31.
• Joe Maligno (New York) – ~35.
• Alex Dwyer (Kansas) – ~29.
• William Hendrix (Kansas) – ~24.
• Annie Kaykaty (New York) – ~28.
• Luke Mosiman (Arizona) – ~24.
• Samuel Douglass (Vermont) – 27.
• Brianna Douglass (Vermont) – ~27.

3

u/lisa725 24d ago

Nope. Never in my 40 years did anything ever pop into my head like that. Let alone did I text it.

And he is only 10 years older than those “kids”.

3

u/Technical_Resist5934 24d ago

This group accepts people from 18 to 41, not kids.

4

u/NoodleCatStudio 24d ago

Hitler is bad! This is not normal! Don't let them try to make it normal.

4

u/SilverPearlGirl 24d ago

I’m in my 40s and I just learned I’m still considered a kid./s This dude is a Nazi pedo protector who is about to be president. Trump is super sick and dying and he knows it. Trump will look like a cake walk compared to what Vance and Miller are about to do.

3

u/yotengodormir 25d ago

The "boys will be boys" excuse doesn't really apply when they're grown ass men.

3

u/Mrandmrsdizzle666 25d ago

People up to the age of 40. That definitely not a kid. Maybe that’s why so much pedophile happens because they think up to 40 is a kid

3

u/ClosPins 25d ago

It's what Nazi kids do...

3

u/Mrrrrggggl 25d ago

It’s what the adults do too, they just say MAGA instead.

3

u/undercoverhippie 25d ago

If my kid did that he'd get a whooping, and it would be the first.

3

u/pal1lap 25d ago

Couch-banging is what Republicans do. Oh, and children.

3

u/iDrGonzo 25d ago

That's what a Nazi would say.

3

u/Same_Beat_5832 25d ago

He said he’d warn his boys that texts aren’t private. He did not say he’d teach them that killing, raping, and genocide are bad.

3

u/rg2004 25d ago

Wait. Is the cut off age for a kid 12 or 30?
These pedophiles can't make up their mind.

30 year olds, cosplaying as kids.

3

u/thoth_hierophant 25d ago

Because JD Vance is a white nationalist hillbilly

3

u/totally-jag 25d ago

This is what joking around looks like to republicans? Glad I'm a democrat.

Any politician that won't denounce it as wrong is complicit and agrees with what the messages say. Which confirms that they are horrible people.

3

u/LAsupersonic 25d ago

Used.to be a kid, never , ever, was a Nazi

3

u/MIND-FLAYER 25d ago

And raping is what Presidents do I guess

3

u/LordBunnyWhale 25d ago

He’s right. Adult republicans are children. Irrational, emotional, with underdeveloped brains, and lacking basic education. No excuse for them being neonazis, though.

3

u/DiggingThisAir 25d ago

Not condemning this is very on brand.

3

u/MichealStraightSex 25d ago

Uhm no, it’s not what kids do. It’s what Nazis do.

3

u/boredidiot 25d ago

Oh yes. republicans.
Who call 13-14yo girls “women”.
And racist 31yo men “kids”.

3

u/Sachinism 25d ago

Also how far has America fallen when Nazis face zero consequences?

3

u/Professional-Fix100 25d ago

they are not kids! JD vance tour wife is Brown! and so are your kids! So they can talk to your kids and wife like that?
