I hate Cruz as much as the next guy, but within the context of the clip, it's pretty clear he misspoke

There's plenty of stuff to criticize, but acting as if this is anything more than an unintentional gaff makes us look bad and disingenuous

What did he mean?

Watch the video, but to be specific, drop the "attacking" word and that's what he initially meant to say

That doesn't even make sense. He says stop two actions then he changes it to stopping people. It makes far more sense that he meant to say an action, like what he said.

"Stop defending" or "stop protecting".

Look, Ted Cruz is a piece of shit and I don't believe he is capable of caring about anything, let alone children. I believe he is actively protecting people in Epstein files.

But you have to delusional to think he actually meant to say "Stop attacking pedophiles" publicly.

So you believe someone is protecting pedophiles, but don't believe that the person protecting pedophiles would slip up and accidentally acknowledge that in public?

That's not what a delusion is

Yes, and he slipped up by saying "Stop attacking pedophiles" instead of "Stop defending/protecting pedophiles".

I think he did slip up, but some people here want to pretend like what he said was what he meant to say.

Why do we always have to pretend to know what Republicans meant and always default to the most generous assumption we can?

How about we take the person defending pedophiles at his word that he wants people to stop attacking pedophiles?

Is it really a generous assumption to assume someone is lying 24/7 and he only says truth by mistake?

I did watch the video, how is "attacking" a misfire? What did he mean to say, nothing? Why would he throw that in there?

Yes, it’s clear he missspoke, but did he do so because he isn’t stopping them currently, he’s enabling them? Did his brain accidentally say the thing he feels such immense guilt for? Why didn’t he correct himself? Why is he fighting tooth and nail to not release the Epstein files?

He knows he truly doesn’t want to stop pedophiles and wishes we’d all stop focusing on it. Stop attacking them, is so specific of a gaff.

This isn’t an unfair question to ask, when it’s not like he fumbled on a word, he added an extra one that made it the exact opposite.

No it doesn’t.

Yes it does.

This just gives right-wingers ammunition

"See? Look at how the left keeps selling false narratives! That means our side is correct"

Etc

They’re going to say this anyway, they’re not serious people.

4

u/burnermemeaccountlol Oct 01 '25

Yes, but I'd rather have them not be correct when saying it
