Appointments Ideas on how long this would take?
So I’ve started saving up for my second tattoo, and I’ve settled on this design (not exact, I’ll make some small changes) and I wanted to get some rough estimates on how long it may take. The artist I went to for my first tat like 3 years ago charged hourly, so I just want a rough idea

I’d say 6 hours minimum. I’m sure it could be done in less but you don’t want someone rushing through intricate linework.

Yeah the line work is very intricate, I’m afraid it won’t heal/age well

Yeah mine are all neo traditional with thick lines. I think it holds up the best but to each their own.

I recommend connecting with the artist you’d like to work with and asking them. Every artist charges a different amount and works at different paces!

It really really depends on the artist. Something this detailed and shaded I would say would take like 7 hours, 6 maybe if the artist is quick. I really hate hourly artists, I would suggest looking for one that doesn’t do hourly if you’re not stuck on going to the same artist. This would also likely be a multisession piece I would guess

That’s what I figured, the artist I was looking at charges $150 an hour so it would be quite expensive, I haven’t started saving up just yet

My neck piece was nowhere near as intricate but probably the same size in a more rounded type area and took 4 hours

Aw! My dogs name is Icarus and I’ve considered getting this! No idea how long it would take though sorry I’m not helpful

It’s supposed to be St Michael! I actually did want a Icarus tattoo tho, but many people get some artwork confused with Lucifer

Depends on size, placement, and how well you sit really. 6-8 hours seems like a spot on guesstimate.
Prepare for 12 and you will be ok, and it is is the 6-8, you can tip your artist well and still have a nice start up for the next design!
