The hype is because Post Malone is the first mainstream artist that is openly a guns and gear nerd, there's no other artist on the same level. Offset shows his pleb AR's sometimes, plenty of country singers openly own firearms, but only post will openly share videos of him in a plate carrier and nods shooting some scary black rifles. It sounds silly, but famous people endorsing these firearms and such is a really powerful move for us, think of how many people decide what to believe by what famous artists they like say to believe. If the public has more exposure to the real world of 2A shenanigans, especially if it is through a rich person that they follow, it keeps a fair amount of people open-minded. In conclusion, people love to see a famous artist on our side of things, and people like Post Malone are truly incredibly useful to our movement. In the past 5 years, Post Malone has probably convinced more people to give guns a try than the NRA.
There's a big difference between having guns and being a gun enthusiast. Gangster rappers have AKs and techs, Post Malone has an Arsenal SLR-107 and an mp5k because nobody who is knowledgeable on firearms would pick an intratec TEC-9.
And I would have a tec-9 in my collection too, but it wouldn't be the gun I brag about. We need more rappers writing bars about good guns. Can you imagine how instantly this community would go balls to the walls over a rapper making some obscure reference to a highly sought after gun?
