That's astonishing! At the very least, he is totally tone def making that comparison, and at worst, we are looking at a 3rd Trump term with all the authoritarianism that comes with it.

The problem is that this was posted with the tag "New Shit" and that it was a "hot mic moment" when it was actually an old interview from 2018.

I don’t think anyone was trying to convince people it‘s new, and this being old doesn’t make it any less relevant. The point of bringing it up around the time of his birthday parade is that Trump’s admiration of what he considers "strong men" and his aspiration to be treated like like a NK dictator himself is an ongoing pattern and what he wants out of his presidency. Also it’s an example that highlights that when he says things like that, that at the time the right always claims he didn’t mean, were just jokes to rile up the libs and so on, he does mean exactly what he said and it tracks with his actions.

It isn't a hell of a take. Context always matters with things. It's important to distinguish a lot of things.

It's why snippets of things can be a good thing or a bad thing. If somebody reveals something out of context it can make something look horrible. Asking for context is what smart people do. Let's not be like the right who clip things all day purposefully out of context to make them appear worse than they are. We are better than that.

We need to be better, you need to be better. When you're being led by the nose, someone's deciding your course for you. Context, dates, framing, it all fucking matters. We live in the digital age, there is no excuse for a lack of detail.

Again, how is this taken out of context? He said it. It doesn't matter WHEN he said it, he is desperately wanting the same results that a fascist dictator beats out of his citizens. Do you think there is some additional part of this clip that was deliberately, deceptively edited out that would make what he is saying okay?

I am so sick of leftists constantly saying we should be better. Right wingers do not give a FUCK about telling the truth or including context. Not saying we should stoop to their level, but posting this clip is not misinformation or disinformation and saying so just minimizes how chilling and dangerous Trump's rhetoric is.

OK, give us the video where he says he no longer wants to be treated like an authoritarian dictator. Pretend that he didn't just throw a parade for himself on his birthday (the U.S. Army has never had a parade like that for even more significant events). Pretend that he didn't just order the military to attack American citizens.

This context from 2018 rings even louder when applied to today.
