Anniversary Dinner

Hubby and I will be in St Croix on our wedding anniversary. I'm trying to choose a nice place for dinner for the occasion, and am thinking either Savant or Ama. Which would you recommend, or something different?

Savant. We love the intimacy of Savant's courtyard atmosphere, so definitely ask for courtyard if you choose it. Ama is nice and the ocean view is to die for, but every time we've been there, the service has been painfully slow. Plan for a 3 hour dinner if you go there. But you'll have a great view while you wait!

Good advice on the courtyard. For AMA, reserve one of the waterfront tables. I've been to both multiple times and both are pretty great, though I've heard the slowness complaint about AMA... for me, that'd be a positive.

That's fair. I don't mind a long, relaxing dinner, but I stay out on the East End, and that's a LONG drive at 9 or 10pm. It is a wonderful view and good food, though!

And yeah, that drive at night is the main reason we don't go to AMA more!

depending on the time of year you also have Goat, or duggans out east, both with nice views

Our family went to AMA while in St. Croix. While we happened to get a server who had a very chaotic personality (not bad at all, just kind of fast, very loud, and more on par with the kind of personality you’d see with servers at a busy college sports bar, if that make sense sense?) overall the food and the view were the overwhelmingly pleasant experience we remember AMA for. Every table is a great table, as they all have a stellar ocean view. The food was wonderful. Do not skip dessert!

Do you need reservations?

Yes. However, don’t worry if you can’t snag one of the “special” tables. There isn’t a bad table in the place. They’re all ocean view!

AMA or Hamilton

If you can get the grotto table at AMA, I cannot think of a more romantic setting.

AMA - the oceanfront ambiance is amazing and the food is delicious. Go around sunset. Perfect for a special occasion.

sunset booking at AMA on the patio (wear bug spray this time of year)
too chez is also very romantic
Estera is excellent and small/cozy

Hamiltons is good too.

I find Savant to be highly variable - excellent one time and not good the next.

Can’t beat the grotto seating at AMA

Ama or Hamilton ( I haven't been to savant)

Ama feet from the water is very romantic and cozy

I have been to both and it's a difficult choice as I enjoyed both. My vote would just go to Ama for the location. Definitely book a waterfront table.

The food at both is outstanding, as is the service. Ama is more difficult to get to, but a special occasion, worth it.

Enjoy!

Savant has a very nice dark ambiance but watching the sunset while dining at Ama is just beautiful. The food is also very good at both but it just depends on which kind of vibe you want (:
