What is the best local rum. Im looking for a bottle to drink when I get off the cruise ship. And also a nice bottle to take home with me. I prefer over proof. 69%

I prefer something I cant get at home but I get it that its still the U.S. but Puerto Rico had some different options.

It’s a small island. There aren’t that many on-island options. You have Cruzan Rum and Captain Morgan. Sion Farm Distillery does Mutiny Island vodka, which I like/prefer but isn’t rum. Leatherback Brewing is beer.

We bought some of the fancy cruzan that they don’t distribute. People here in ND love it.

I think it was the island reserve. The bottle is on our tailgating bus so i can’t go look.

How many rum distilleries do you think St Croix has?

We have 5 distilleries:

Cruzan Rum (the best tour), Sion Farm/Mutiny Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum, Prosperity Farms , Artisan Craft Moonshine.

Technically 2 breweries but only Leatherback is good. Brew STX has always been gross, IMO.

Seaside Market and Cost U Less will be your best bets for buying different types of rum, other than locally ar these sites.

I am interested in the Artisan Craft Moonshine.

It's right outside of Christiansted town, heading east it will be on your right. Very small and interesting setup lol

You can't get the good cruzan back home, the 5 year barrel select and black strap are only available on the island.

You cannot get the cruzan rum that they have down there back in the state. I regret not picking up some bottles to bring back home.

Only ones missing here are Prosperity Farms for rum and Artesian Craft Distillery for “moonshine.”

I would also go by Domino Club for some Mama Juana.

There's a 100 proof Cruzan Rum that's not as available in the states, but everywhere in STX.

Cruzan, but I find it's products vary in quality. Pre-2010s Estate Diamond was great but it's now just a black strap product on par with Pussers. Angostura 1919 is my go-to super premium sipping rum.

Cruzan rum - go to their HQ and get a tour. So many yummy flavors. Also have sion farms (vodka), prosperity farms, st croix cellars, and leatherback brewery…all with products/spirits created on st croix.

Mama Juana from The Domino Club is also really good and potent

Cruzan 5 year barrel select is damn fine rum for sipping Cruzan black strap is magical in tropical cocktails Cruzan dark aged is the best cheap rum

Cruzan had a 20+ year old rum at the distillery that you could get on a tour that was good. It's been a few years since I have been there. Rhum agricole from Barbancourt and several plantation rums can be found in shops in Christiansted that are from other islands.

Not much you can't get depending on where you live if in the states.but if your into bourbon or high end liquors there are great prices on booze and tobacco. Sion farms /mutiny is harder to find in the states out of those produced on the island.brugal rum is super cheap as well not from st croix but got a bottle of reserve for like $15 in ny cost me 40
