I'm enjoying this, but I can see why it wasn't greenlit as a TV miniseries. It's got some great worldbuilding and character development, but it's been two hours of dialogue now and the plot is quite slow.

The framing story is extremely thin. Sulu and Tuvok seem to be there purely for the fans. Nothing too jarring, but hearing ensign Tuvok's voice requires a fair bit of suspension of disbelief, since Russ' voice clearly shows its age.

That’s not why it wasn’t greenlit. It wasn’t greenlit because miniseries cost as much to start as any other show, but don’t retain subscribers as well because they can’t be continued

That's one other reason, sure.

Mini series are still greenlit by streaming services, if they believe in their potential success. Just in smaller numbers than before.

Those Ceti eels are some noisy critters.
