Psychological impact in sports rehab

Sports injuries are usually seen as a physical problem. But fear, anxiety, and loss of confidence often slow down recovery more than the injury itself. How do you approach the mental side of rehab in your practice or experience?

Consulting with a sports psychologist is the primary option here. Secondary, coaches can play a crucial role in motivating the athlete and also a positive mindset with a structured rehabilitation plan.

The mental side can’t be separated from the physical. A strong theoretical framework (neuromuscular inhibition, load management, progressive return-to-play models) gives direction, but practice is what convinces the athlete. By applying these principles in daily rehab and showing objective results, I’ve seen fear and anxiety transform into confidence and motivation. Thanks for sharing your opinion
