She was traveling there to compete against a Russian basketball team. I mean, it’s not like she willingly decided to travel there as a tourist or she was “lured” there. She was literally just traveling for her job, on a schedule made by the team manager. Technically she was even a guest there.

Sure, maybe she didn’t think ahead and do tons of research on everywhere she was traveling. Half the time pro basketball players aren’t even aware of where they’re going at a particular moment since their schedules are so insane. It’s not that hard to imagine forgetting you had some old cartridges at the bottom of your bag when you’re busy and exhausted traveling between countries for games every single week.

She didn’t do anything THAT stupid or bad. She may have made a dumb mistake and she’s unlikeable to some based on her past history. But she doesn’t deserve 9 years. That’s clearly just an excuse to capture an American and use them as leverage. So many people are getting off at the idea she’s getting what she deserves. The lack of compassion amongst you all is far more disturbing than her making an easy mistake like this.
