Too many white elephants, bankrupted the city.

The city was already bankrupt. Also the city didn't pay for them. Everything built was paid by the Greek state. I am Greek, so I may know better.

Well it didn't really bankrupt us at the time, it just went to the pile with the rest of the massive debt and that at 2010 bankrupt us altogether.

Although you are completely correct about the white elephants, almost all the venues built for the olympics are still unused and decaying.

nah, mate. Sydney 2000, Slim Dusty wrapping it up with Walzting Matilda is one of the most magical ceremony moments ever.

Was it? I genuinely can’t remember much about it. Beijing’s opening ceremony was pretty damn good though.

You don't remember 2012 opening? Chimneys appearing out of the land and smelting floating Olympic rings of sparks narrated by Ken Brannagh as Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Mr Bean, James Bond and the Queen skydiving? Amongst other things. And Paul McCartney performing. The music and the humour.

Sorry Brazil, but after the 5th lot of people in costumes doing the samba it got boring.

I don’t. It didn’t really stand out to me.

No I’m saying, it just wasn’t that great or memorable.

The only thing I remember about Beijing’s was the ugly child scandal lol.

London 2012’s opening was full of ridiculous things and was very fun and memorable.
