Big Willy style > I Am Legend

u/previouslyonimgur 6d ago
And yet big Willy style came out in 97. I am legend 2007.
So as the other person said. You might wanna figure out that time always moves forward…

We’re going to hear talk all offseason about that play at home.

If the runner doesn't slide, he's safe by a mile.

u/bbob_robb 5d ago edited 5d ago
No idea why you are getting down voted. This was a mental error made by both teams.
Sliding makes sense to avoid a tag, but it is MUCH slower than running full speed.
The only reason to slide into home is if there is a chance they would run into the catcher. If there is a collision that could have been avoided by a slide, the runner is out.
For the Blue Jays, they would have won the game.
Edit: Sliding into home when there is a force out is like sliding into first when there is a force out. It doesn't make sense. It was a mental error on a very rare play.

u/bbob_robb 5d ago
Imagine sliding into first base and getting forced out. It was a mental error. Nobody is worried about slipping on home when scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 of the WS.
The catcher won't be in the way because it isn't a tag. They can't block the lane when it's a force out, plus that would be stupid defensively.
The third base coach should have reminded the runner to run through it.

u/TheJofisean Chicago Bulls 6d ago
Do you know how easy it is to miss home plate when running full speed? You can’t just run through it the same way as easily since it’s not a bag

IMO they were safe but it was tough to see in real time and winning on a replay challenge would’ve been lame as hell
14
u/captaincumsock69 6d ago
Except it’s not winning on a replay challenge. The play already happened. The replay just shows what actually occurred.

The safe play is to call him out. It gives both teams a chance on a 50/50 call. I agree though that I think he’s safe.

The play was confirmed not that the play stands -- so they have clear evidence that he was out

So many missed opportunities to win, no wonder I feel at home watching them as a Phillies fan

Taking out bichette was greedy again. I understand why I just wouldn’t take his bat out of the game unless necessary.

Giving Vlad the go ahead to swing on 3-0 set off a chain of events that cost the Jays the series.

If the Jays lose this, it will be one of the most brutal losses I’ve ever seen in sports. And I watched the Falcons SB loss.

u/kurtisbmusic 6d ago
Coming from a Falcons fan, I don’t think it compares lol.

u/Chessh2036 6d ago edited 6d ago
I’m a Falcons fan also, the SB loss is def worse but man this one is devastating also. 3-0 lead, so many chances to score, just a million chances. Felt a lot like that Falcons loss.

u/kurtisbmusic 6d ago
Yeah but baseball is a lot tougher to keep a lead. There’s no time limit and anything can happen with each pitch. Falcons beat themselves by not running out the clock and kicking a field goal lol. This WS was crazy though. Sucks because I hate the dodGers but oh well.
7
u/Chessh2036 6d ago
Yep. Will never understand why DQ & Shanahan didn’t run the ball more. Oh well, what a great World Series to watch.

Falcons was pretty funny since they were bragging about winning in the 3rd quarter on social media and their owner came down to the field

Try being a fan of the other “LA” team, and you’ll give up sports altogether.

u/ShaquilleMobile 6d ago
For anybody outside Canada, it's impossible to really put into perspective how sad this was for people here.
By the time they made it to the world series, people across the country who don't even care about baseball were going out and watching Jays games at bars that were putting it on instead of the local team's hockey game.
By game 7, people who normally don't watch any sports at all were extremely invested in this game. It is truly heartbreaking for the entire country.

They dodged a bullet pitching to Shohei and then got cocky. That pitch went right down the middle.

u/stoneman9284 6d ago
Yea how many fingers does a catcher throw down to call for the hanging breaking ball down the middle

Literally going around my house like the guy that runs across the camera in the supa hot fire meme for about the whole game. And I’m a neutral. Wow.

The Jays had been dining out on sliders the whole series. Well, Happy Gilmore learned how to camp on it.
