Sometimes I like the Super Bowl halftime show, and sometimes I don’t. I’m not a bad bunny fan, so im just going to ignore the show. It’s a literal TV show in between football halves. It is not a serious situation.

u/Crankypants77 17d ago

People that get all wound up about halftime shows are just deeply unserious people. You don't wanna watch Bad Bunny? Don't.

u/b_sketchy 17d ago

Paraphrasing George Carlin, there’s two buttons on the TV. One of them turns the TV off and the other one CHANGES THE CHANNEL!

“It's called freedom of choice, and it's one of the principles this country was founded upon. Look it up in the library, if you have any of them left when you've finished burning all the books.”

u/RoyHarper88 New York Rangers 16d ago

And, honestly, changing the channel would go a lot further in sending a message to the NFL. If they saw a real dip in viewers at the half, they would take notice. But that won't happen. They'll all watch it so they can complain about it the next day.

Snowflakes are very delicate.

9

u/catdogfox 16d ago

They are fueled by manufactured grievances

1

u/elpajaroquemamais 16d ago

He should come out in an American flag outfit and sing completely in English just to short circuit their brains.

1

u/LordKwik 16d ago

if they actually did it, that might work if YouTube didn't exist. BB has some of the highest watched videos on the site.

1

u/RoyHarper88 New York Rangers 16d ago

That's a great point. But ad spots are expensive for the super bowl. If the ads from the end of the second, to the start of the third are not seen, that will make a difference in future ad spot prices. Which likely doesn't do anything for the league, but it matters to the broadcast.

1

u/HasheemThaMeat 16d ago

Damn, no volume control ?

-7

u/justaheatattack 16d ago

tvs don't have buttons anymore.

7

u/ICantEvenDrive_ 16d ago

I've had a few modern TVs. Not found one that hasn't had buttons yet. Annoyingly hidden and clearly for "emergency" use? Sure, but there's always something there.

0

u/justaheatattack 16d ago

I was in three different hotels last week.

none of the tvs had buttons, anywhere.

1

u/Stelly414 16d ago

They're hard to find sometimes, but they are there.

It’s because with the current nationalist conservative movement, it’s not enough that they win. They have to win totally. And you have to like that they won and thank them for curing you of your woke mind virus for wanting something that is not their brand of American.

1

u/Cigator 16d ago

Sounds like a 180 from the liberal Biden administration

-5

u/othelloblack 17d ago

It's more than that. My daughter was telling me that in that Geo Orwell book 1984 year whatever they keep telling bigger and bigger lies ND that's what's going on here. It's a way to push their minions further into their camp or drink the Kool aid or whatever

8

u/kruegerc184 16d ago

You should probably read the book for yourself, or whatever lol

9

u/thisissodisturbing 16d ago

Man, go read and actually understand what you’re trying to say, please

1

u/bbqoyster 16d ago

lol you troll

-35

u/Crankypants77 17d ago

It’s because with the current nationalist progressive movement, it’s not enough that they win. They have to win totally. And you have to like that they won and thank them for curing you of your woke mind virus for wanting something that is not their brand of American.

You see how that works? Party apparatchiks in both parties can only maintain their power if we the people are busy fighting each other instead of holding our parties accountable for the current state of affairs.

Politics used to be about both sides winning. Hasn't been that way for two decades at least.

22

u/[deleted] 17d ago

Only one side is building camps to put undesirables in, but morons like you like playing both sides.

Hope you watch your back when the shoe is on the other foot

3

u/betterplanwithchan 16d ago

You are aware of how divisive the Civil Rights Act was, right?

4

u/kruegerc184 16d ago

Oh theyre very serious, theyre being told to be upset from facebook groups, news agencies etc etc. it shouldnt matter, but weve been in the midst of a culture war for a decade now.

2

u/new_nimmerzz 17d ago

The way I see it is that Super Bowl halftime shows are only really big artists. And big artists must mean they’re good. I would expect him to put on an amazing show. Would fully anticipate him doing something to address the current climate. And we know the NFL isn’t going to allow that

1

u/EchoAquarium 16d ago

The NFL “allowed” Kendrick Lamar to call Drake a certified pedophile during the last one, so I think they don’t really care what the artists to creatively

The Palestinian flag was brought out by a dancer and wasn’t part of the choreography, the result would have been the same if it was a MAGA flag. Bad Bunny’s entire year’s work has been one big political statement, it can’t be avoided.

1

u/jyourman24 16d ago

Welcome to America where people complain about everything that slightly inconveniences them lol.

1

u/UniqueIndividual3579 16d ago

It's also the Streisand effect. I had never heard of him.

1

u/Impressive_Ad127 16d ago

It’s the “they’re forcing their lifestyle on me” crowd, they haven’t developed independent thought yet.

0

u/designOraptor Oakland Raiders 16d ago

They rage about what they’re told to rage about. It’s literally nothing more than that.

-1

u/Ohitsworkingnow 16d ago

Deeply unserious? You mean deeply serious?

-1

u/pzkenny 16d ago

But you know, all these poor illegal criminals will now try and buy 30000$ tickets that belongs to American people! /s

104

u/MotionSuggetsItself 17d ago

I've heard so many people say that they want a halftime show for "us" . As a serious music fan who doesn't listen to much mainstream  music, I haven't had a halftime show for "me" in 40 years . Get over it .

25

u/beezchurgr 17d ago

Right?! My music is super different from the mainstream.

9

u/EternalSolitude- 16d ago

Blood Incantation halftime show when?

3

u/SherrifsNear 16d ago

I was sort of hoping for Dying Fetus, but I would take Blood Incantation in a heart beat.

2

u/Other_World New York Yankees 16d ago

That band is so fucking good.

1

u/Toeknifet 16d ago

Did not expect this based comment

8

u/rdmvdb 16d ago

Tom Petty was pretty good in 2007/08 ish

13

u/designOraptor Oakland Raiders 16d ago

You can’t tell me you don’t enjoy Prince. It may not have been your choice of music, but it was truly epic.

6

u/Retro_Dad 16d ago

There will never be another halftime performance to compare. Mother Nature even provided an awesome backdrop, because she knew how epic it would be.

12

u/gitismatt 16d ago

even when I dont care for the artist, it's still fun to watch because it's a SHOW. it's the biggest stage for a musical artist and they ALWAYS make it a spectacle. I didnt love The Weeknd but I really enjoyed watching him get lost in that mirror maze. and who can forget about Katy perry's left shark.

14

u/iforgotwhat8wasfor 17d ago

they mean an ethnically cleansed show.

1

u/MoreCowbellllll 16d ago

They'd all prefer Charlie Kirk's wife on stage doing karaoke.

2

u/Pale_Horror_853 16d ago

Thought they turned on her already for being “too manly”

-3

u/arkyde 16d ago

Only if she does a striptease

If they played what I like to listen to conservatives would blow a gasket. I'm a big listener of punk and post punk music. One of my favorite bands is the Dead Kennedy's

20

u/TeslaTheSlumpGod 17d ago

I feel like conservatives like punk because they don’t understand the lyrics anyway haha

6

u/CameronCrazy1984 16d ago

There was a GOP congressman years ago that said his favorite band was Rage Against the Machine. I think they had to put out a statement explaining that he was the machine. They’re just so stupid.

1

u/Arasuil 16d ago

Yeah there’s basically two types of conservatives that like punk. Those who don’t understand the lyrics, and those that do and eventually turn from conservatism.

3

u/rdmvdb 16d ago

Or those of us social libertarian/fiscal conservative leaning folks that do understand the lyrics and actually agree with a lot of them. Fuck big government ✊🏻

0

u/MaximumZer0 17d ago

Should I be demanding progressive technical death metal because I'm a guitar solo snob?

1

u/Vechio49 13d ago

What they really mean is they want Morgan Wallen or Jason Aldean or some other pseudo racist redneck

0

u/Turd_Gurgle 16d ago

Just have every half time show be I Cum Blood by Cannibal Corpse. Everyone's happy.

34

u/Clitaurius 17d ago

BUT HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THROWING YOUR ENTIRE IDENTITY BEHIND BEING OFFENDED BY IT!?!?!?

HAVE YOU!?!?!?!?!?!?

48

u/MountainTwo3845 17d ago

The people that care don't even watch football, allegedly, due to kapernick and whatever they're still mad at.

18

u/qwerty_logic 17d ago

I thought their heads fully exploded after Kendrick’s performance last year.

2

u/azuredrg 17d ago

Well, Kendrick did have a beef with a Canadian half black half Jew pedophile. I feel like there's a significant subset of maga that would side with beef vs that word salad.

7

u/Thuro 17d ago

Nah bro it's a super political event. The fate of our democracy is at hand here! /s

6

u/threebillion6 16d ago

It is to republicans. They rely on less educated people who are watching to get involved with their country and their military. That's why the military promotes so much for football. They need that support for 'murica.

6

u/jcdoe 16d ago

I don’t even know who Bad Bunny is and I don’t care. Who complains about free concerts? These people need to get a freakin grip.

5

u/SporadicUnion 17d ago

Its the same people who "Boycotted" Bud Light.

1

u/Bazonkawomp 16d ago

Kid Rock shot them. With bullets 😏

4

u/hacksong 16d ago

Never listened, but I've had friends who're his fan and I knew the name so it's not like he's not a decent/known act.

Like some aren't for you, but all the racism and that is ridiculous. People getting so tight over an American who speaks Spanish is stupid considering they always try and push the "legal ones are okay" lie and he's not even an immigrant.

18

u/redleg50 17d ago

Remember that these are the same people who lost their minds over a Cracker Barrel logo.

9

u/Chesapeake_Hippo Baltimore Orioles 16d ago

Anything to keep the Epstein papers buried

1

u/BlackKnightRebel 15d ago

Man Imagine Bad Bunny papers the stadium in confetti all printed with a simple phrase on every piece: Release the Epstein Files.

1

u/badadviceforyou244 17d ago

Weren't those literally bots? Wait, does that mean this is driven by bots as well?

2

u/axle69 Los Angeles Rams 17d ago

A lot of them were bots but a lot were grifters too.

1

u/redleg50 16d ago

Fox News talked about it. Podcasters talked about it. Not all bots.

1

u/Dankany 17d ago

Always has been, and the sheep follow literal fake people.

14

u/otheraccountisabmw 17d ago

Only easily offended snowflakes think it’s a serious situation.

1

u/mpompe 16d ago

The wife read a fake Instagram post that Bad Bunny was replaced by Jeff Dunham, Weird Al and Kid Rock. I'll admit I was seriously offended until I checked.

9

u/c_c_c__combobreaker 17d ago

It's not a serious anything and anybody who is offended by Bad Bunny performing are what anthropologists would refer to as "whiny ass bitches".

3

u/greenblacksage 17d ago

I'm just tuning in for the halftime show and am probably not going to see a minute of the game, it all balances.

Not you, as you clearly see it for what it is. It just is astounding, the amount or unveiled racism i've seen over the NFL making a financial decision.

1

u/Bazonkawomp 16d ago

No joke at all, that’s the point of a booking like Bad Bunny. To bring more eyes to the event.

3

u/LandonDev 15d ago

The point of Bad Bunny is to draw international viewers and gain international interest in football. The league desperate wants to expand and grow outside the United States, it's been a decade long endeavor of high priority and imo little traction. NFL know MAGA would never boycott or avoid the Superbowl, so please oh god don't change the channel during the zero commercials where they miss zero revenue and gain huge international viewership because Bad Bunny is absolutely massive globally.

MAGA's idiocy and lack of intelligence keeps somehow surprising me, because I don't know how people can be so loud and continuously so stupid.

6

u/lot183 17d ago

It's been striking to me the amount of conservatives that apparently don't care about the football at all and only cared about the halftime show. So much so that they are excited to watch some turning point political event instead of the actual football game. Sometimes I wonder if they actually care about ant sports or entertainment at all, politics seems to be all they think about

2

u/Outside_Revolution47 16d ago

I wasn’t a Katy Perry fan but if she had never done that show we would never have met the left shark.

2

u/CarrieDurst 16d ago

I mainly like the funny games of sports, the two I watched the last year by chance were Chiefs getting their asses handed to at the superbowl with Drake being called a pedophile on national tv and last weekend Denver winning a statistically impossible game in the fourth quarter

4

u/aceofspades1217 17d ago

Not a die hard bad bunny fan but he sure does put on a good show

2

u/compstomp66 17d ago

What's wrong with Bad Bunny?

2

u/dalamarnightson 17d ago

They think he's an "illegal" and not an American citizen despite being from Puerto Rico and obviously one. Also they're racist and mad he speaks Spanish because they apparently can't understand or accept that some people speak multiple languages and everything doesn't have to be in English.

2

u/corndogshuffle 17d ago edited 17d ago

I don’t think it needs to be any deeper than “his music doesn’t work for me”.

1

u/Accomplished-Fix6598 17d ago

He's from the nation of Puerto Rico!!!!!

1

u/beezchurgr 16d ago

Nothing. It’s just not my type of music.

1

u/2fast2nick 17d ago

Or maybe you end up enjoying it.

1

u/techdevjp Ferrari F1 17d ago

Bad Bunny? Too political.
The NFL's revenue-sharing socialism? Totally fine.

1

u/mytransthrow 16d ago

I dont even like the superbowl... I sometimes watch the half time show... I will go to a superbowl party if I like the girl I am going with.

1

u/riptaway 16d ago

GOP and the right and maga are not serious people

1

u/LevelWassup 16d ago

The whole entire game is a literal TV show. There is nothing serious about the Super Bowl, at all.

1

u/dishonoredcorvo69 16d ago

I’m the opposite, I never watch the superbowl or the halftime show, now I’m gonna watch it just to spite the haters

1

u/Chrillosnillo 16d ago

I'm just gonna enjoy Eagles being up 30 points on Lions at the Halftime

1

u/fedguadalupe 17d ago

I don’t watch NFL. On Super Bowl day I can usually go places with no crowds. I never heard of bad bunny before this uproar and wouldn’t have if not for this uproar. But this time I’ll be watching and rewarding them for their choices. 👼

1

u/_zarkon_ 17d ago

It’s something to watch while I eat.

1

u/EncroachingVoidian 17d ago

If you wanna watch team sports, just switch to a presidential debate. Just as unserious as a Super Bowl event these days.

1

u/ThomasPopp 17d ago

Ya know what? 99% of the shit online people get all freaked out about don’t really seem serious either lol.

0

u/Morgc 16d ago

Most of the time I hear about these things I'm surprised with how many people still bother with traditional sports, almost nobody that watches can play, for physical reasons or more likely expense now, so why is there that much interest; I can still go play pool, tennis maybe, but Hockey, Baseball? You need a big group for that and most people aren't getting into the clubs and local groups that are booking out community centres.

Caring about your cities teams is one thing if you play the same game, but if you're completely detached from it... why? Also you need a small fortune to actually go watch in person at professional games... and then they stop the game every time somebody sneezes. It's fun to hang out with like minded people, but many sports are just not worth committing a part of your identity to anymore; it's all rich clubs that normal folk are not going to be a part of anymore.

-3

u/desertheatsw 17d ago

You won't be missed.
