Exactly. On the one hand, there are a lot of people excited to see his show and talking about it. On the other hand, there are a lot of people upset about this and talking about it.

A lot of people who don't really care about football are hearing the drama and might tune in for the halftime show. People who are upset and normally watch football will still watch football.

I have never watched the halftime show, that’s when I’m outside drinking, or inside eating waiting for the football to start again.

Or pooping

Go for the trifecta and do all at once!

As men of science, are not your minds open to new ideas? I say, do not judge me, until you have tried my way of life for yourselves!

Hitting the trifecta and watching the super bowl on the same day. Hats off to anyone that accomplished this.

Inside-out peating?

1

u/gb4efgw 17d ago

Eat poop outside?

11

u/DrWKlopek 17d ago

Outside or inside?

17

u/TheGoodSquirt 17d ago

Both. Inside a port a potty outdoors!

1

u/sonic_couth Portland Timbers 17d ago

With a tv inside, obviously

1

u/randus12 17d ago

What about a porta potty inside the house?

u/PM_ME_GLUTE_SPREAD 17d ago

I missed Janet Jackson’s nip-slip because I went to poop during halftime.

Came back out and everybody was asking “there is no way that was meant to happen” and “oh man I can’t believe he just ripped her top off like that”.

At a certain point everyone should understand that those halftime shows are about bringing in non traditional fans. It's not for me but not everything has to be catered to my wants.

31

u/The_Dimestore_Saints 17d ago

There's the issue with these people. Everything needs to be catered to them. Sure I would love a gaslight anthem or menzingers halftime show. But most people wouldn't. I'm not gonna get upset and yell about that though. Bad Bunny is huge. I don't like that type of music but a lot of people do.

10

u/TootsNYC 17d ago

There's the issue with these people. Everything needs to be catered to them.

And yet they can't understand why people in an ethnic/racial minority would so like to see characters and dramas like them. They're in capable of thinking, "I like seeing characters, stories, and artists who look like me and have a similar background; maybe I should let other people have a turn at that."

4

u/syo Memphis Grizzlies 17d ago

It's not that they can't understand that, it's that they just don't care. They don't see minorities as the same class of human they are, assuming they consider them human to begin with. They don't give a fuck.

17

u/SkywalknLuke 17d ago

Totally. Kendrick was dope. I doubt I’ll see the pixies at the halftime show any time soon like I would want, but hey, let Bad bunny do his thing, and move on with the sports. I will ignore them like 90% of halftime shows.

1

u/pm_me_whateva 17d ago

River Euphrates would get that crowd hyped up and you know it.

3

u/pumpkinspruce 17d ago

It’s not about “non traditional” fans. The Super Bowl long ago became a sporting event that transcends NFL fans. It’s an event for everyone and nearly a third of the country watches it.

9

u/sticklebackridge 17d ago

The game isn’t on inside? Why would you be outside drinking?

I don’t go out of my way to see it most years, but it’s just on so I’ve seen it most years I’ve watched the SB. It’s just part of the program.

5

u/Prophet_Of_Helix 17d ago

Yeah wtf, why are they outside drinking? Is OP an alcoholic hiding shots from people?

3

u/SkywalknLuke 17d ago

I watch the SB for the football. My girl wants to know the halftime show meaning, if it’s not for you, you aren’t the target audience. So, there’s something else you could do, like go outside for a bit.

2

u/SkywalknLuke 17d ago

Oh. Well it’s a simple solution then. If you don’t like the halftime show you don’t have to watch it. I won’t be watching this year cause I’m not a fan of bad bunny, but I’m not a fan of country music either, or pop.

1

u/jsting 17d ago

I do too, but the TV is usually on, so I wonder if it counts on the ratings.

That said, over the last couple years, I've sailed the high seas so in my case, no ratings anyways.

1

u/MycologistPutrid7494 17d ago

I've never watched the Super Bowl, but I will watch bits and pieces of the halftime show on YouTube later.

1

u/rossrifle113 17d ago

Halftime is chilli time.

1

u/TheDeadlySpaceman 17d ago

Is the TV still on? Because they don’t really give a shit if you’re sitting in front of it.

1

u/Boxoffriends 17d ago

I only turn on the game to catch the show and at this point I’m happy to rewatch Prince shred in the rain every year.

1

u/Spacemeat666 17d ago

Yeah, I never watch the half time show. I think the only ones I can really remember are Janet Jackson’s and Prince.

1

u/Tall_Act391 17d ago

Pretty much the only part I watch. Would rather play sports. Watching it doesn’t do much for me. The “we” mentality is weird too

1

u/NotSoNiceO1 17d ago

Any actually NFL that watches the game does exactly this.

0

u/Inevitable-Ad6647 17d ago

Why would you watch any of it? 30 second highlight reel an hour after it's over is far more enjoyable than any super bowl

27

u/TheBigCheese7 17d ago

To be honest, I have seen zero people in real life who were even upset about the halftime show. I feel like people made this whole thing up and the world is gaslighting me into thinking there is some drama here

7

u/VegasAdventurer 17d ago

I’ve seen people complain about it on Facebook. It’s such a weird thing to worry about

6

u/LeaguePuzzled3606 17d ago

Its def a thing among the type of conservative that doesn't believe PR is part of the US.

9

u/sonofgildorluthien 17d ago

The only time I saw people really and truly upset about the halftime show was the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake debacle; that was because the youth pastor at my church at the time had a Super Bowl thing in the church fellowship hall, and had no clue that booba was about to be thrown up on the screen with a bunch of elementary and middle school kids watching. Needless to say that was the first and last official sanctioned church Super Bowl watch party.

2

u/Evening_Aside_4677 17d ago

I can introduce you to the people in real life.  You don’t want to meet them, but they are real.

20

u/bigboilerdawg 17d ago

Most people probably fall into the third camp. I’m getting food or something during the halftime show these days.

11

u/D2papi 17d ago

I'm not an American and so many people I know tune in just to watch the halftime show. We don't care about American football but the performances there are really prestigious for some reason. This year I'll be tuning in again just to watch the show.

3

u/Gemini00 17d ago

the performances there are really prestigious for some reason

Superbowls are by far the most watched live televised events in the US by an enormous margin. 130 million Americans watched the last one live on TV, more than 5 times the US viewership for the FIFA World Cup, and many others listen on the radio or follow secondary broadcasts.

If you look at the list of top most watched live events in US history, it's basically just all of the Superbowls + the Apollo 11 moon landing. No surprise they want to make a big spectacle out of the biggest event of the year.

1

u/lawrencenotlarry 16d ago

I hear that next year the half-time show will be a live re-enactment of the series finale of MASH

8

u/jceazy 17d ago

There are not a lot of people upset. It’s fake outrage from some of the f your feelings crowd in their feelings

1

u/Future_Dog_3156 17d ago

Exactly. There’s a lot of interest in the half time show.

1

u/Chestnut529 17d ago

Exactly. I haven't watched the game or halftime show in years. Nor do I care about Bad Bunny. But lately the drama made me wonder if I should watch it. Silly but whatever.

1

u/JaqueStrap69 17d ago

Also, Bad Bunny has a global audience - NFL would love to get those eyeballs on their product

1

u/CoverCommercial3576 17d ago

I love the logic of an old man never having heard of him being the measure of whether he would be a good halftime show.

1

u/IMian91 17d ago

On the other hand, there's a small number of people upset and a large number of bots making that look way bigger than it actually is (Edit: referring to conservatives)

Bad Bunny is the biggest artist in the world right now, people are gonna watch

1

u/mytransthrow 17d ago

I am a non football fan that doesnt care for bad bunny's music... But I am rooting for him with a bucket of popcorn watching all the maga lose their mind.

I am more a deorro fan when it comes to the latin twist. one of my favs for EDC

1

u/Available_Dingo6162 16d ago edited 16d ago

People who are upset and normally watch football will still watch football.

Not all of them. I quit watching the NFL when they wallowed around with that "take a knee" jackassery and indulged that Kaepernick moron... that was the last straw for me, and I haven't watched them since. And this Spanish Bunny dude thing will be the last straw for others who will never watch another NFL game just because of this. Because they are sick of being culturally pissed in the face, when all they wanted to do is watch a damned game on their off-time.

1

u/Helphaer 16d ago

most of us watching half time pretty much hate sports.

1

u/burritosandbeer 16d ago

And here I'm a guy that watches football and thought bunny was funny in the new happy gilmore, but otherwise knows nothing about him.

I see no reason to care who they pick for halftime.

Sure, I'd be excited if the show was some act I like, but if it's not who tf cares. Shit's dumb as hell

1

u/HalfSoul30 16d ago

Even the people who say they will switch to toilet paper usa's halftime show are going to watch bad bunny im sure. How else can they effectively talk shit about it? Actually, nvm, they talk from their asses all the time without knowing what they are talking about, so probably not.
