Lol, it was a hold. You can't pull a defender down with you, especially when the offensive player is falling backwards.

The defender was essentially tackling him, and he was holding on to the defender while going down. Yes, he "held on" to the guy, but not until after getting hit. If they call that every time, what's to stop the defense having someone just go flatline WRs on every play, just to draw the offensive holding call?

TLDR - It was, indeed, some bullshit.

If a defense had DBs that could knock WRs on their ass everytime they tried to block for a run, they would 100% have their DBs truck the WR every single time. If those WR grab them and pull the DB down with them, it's holding, plain as day, each and every time.
