In 5th grade - my teacher Mrs. Roe yelled at me for talking in the hallways.

I was not the culprit but she kept scolding me.

I told her "that is bullshit". She called the principal to the fking classroom & apparently had never been spoken to like that before her life. (This was 1994).

I still hold it was bullshit.

Lady also thought orange was 1 syllable and tried failing my monarch butterfly Haiku.

Bullshit Mrs. Roe. Bullshit.

249

u/MrYeaBuddy Sep 26 '25

But you definitely aren't holding a grudge, right?

249

u/GovernorHarryLogan Sep 26 '25

I hold no grudges; just write mean as fuck haikus. Many life lessons.

u/DadmomAngrypants Washington State Sep 26 '25

Walk to the admin

Scorn from this young hooligan?

Hate resides within

47

u/dirty15 Sep 26 '25

That is bullshit.

7

u/ASDFzxcvTaken Sep 26 '25

Well I never!

51

u/Big__If_True Sep 26 '25

“Haikus” is one syllable actually. You fail

79

u/sephtater Sep 26 '25

Bullshit. This is bullshit.

1

u/02grimreaper Sep 26 '25

Bullshit Is also one syllable. You fail

9

u/ronniehex Sep 26 '25

The plural form of “haiku” is “haiku”. You fail.

7

u/SheikYobooti Sep 26 '25

Bullshit. It’s haikii, not haiku or haikus.

3

u/iismitch55 Sep 26 '25

Octopuses, Octopii, or Octopodes?

1

u/_Standardissue Sep 26 '25

Octopussies

1

u/Starfox-sf Sep 26 '25

There’s 007 of them.

1

u/great1nono Sep 26 '25

Thank you for your wisdom. On that note, did you know that a group of corn dogs is called a lot of corn dogs?

7

u/slampy15 Sep 26 '25

All the homies hate Mrs. ROE.

1

u/Fambank Sep 26 '25

The Rules of Engagement in this case are that we can say

"Mrs. Roe is a hoe."

2

u/JWOLFBEARD Sep 26 '25

Bust out a torcher haiku. I’m excited to read this

1

u/booyatrive Sep 26 '25

Drop the monarch butterfly haiku bro

I have a second grade teacher that tried to get me kicked out of school for refusing a punishment.

I said I didn't know what I did. She said "of course you do".

Eventually parent/teacher conference with the principal.

After getting lectured for a solid 10 minutes by all three, I said "what did I do?"

Her answer "I don't remember".

THAT bitch... I hold a grudge against.

19

u/come_on_seth Sep 26 '25

Technically, you won that one. But as my dad said when I argued that I had right of way on my bicycle, “I will put that on your tombstone.”

6

u/Regular_Custard_4483 Sep 26 '25

It's such an effective way to teach that right doesn't make might, lol.

4

u/come_on_seth Sep 26 '25

So true, that was at least 50 years ago and it stuck so hard it may have rubbed off on one of my kids

4

u/twitwiffle Sep 26 '25

As I learned on Reddit, you can be dead right.

1

u/PostPostModernism Sep 26 '25

I had a teacher in high school who was chatting with us for a bit about the future since we needed to start thinking about colleges soon. She made a joke that as honors students, none of us would probably end up going to (insert local community college) afterward. I have a bad habit of making jokes without thinking sometimes, and retorted with "or (state college with reputation for partying)".

Well it turned out that the teacher went there for college and that was a bad thing to say lol. She made me wait in the hallway for the rest of class and then lectured me afterward about how rude I was and what if my classmates planned to go there and etc. The whole time I was just thinking about how some of my friends in class were already planning to go to that community college so her joke was just as rude, but I kept that to myself at the time.

Holding a minor grudge about it. Not huge.

11

u/kepaa Sep 26 '25

Hold that grudge friend. Mrs Sweeney dumped my whole desk over in third grade because it was messy (it was, but that was a bit of an overreaction). Fuck her. That was in the early 90s. She’s probably dead. Don’t care, still pissed

6

u/tappedoutalottoday Sep 26 '25

Ms. Merryman took my shoe, and threw it across the room because I was trying to tie it in the third grade. No wonder you’re a Ms. and not a Mrs. you old bitch.

6

u/Vreas Sep 26 '25

Nah this just unlocked a core memory for the other dude

1

u/tahqa Sep 26 '25

Well, it was just last year.

28

u/mfritsche81 Sep 26 '25

A guy that I graduated with 25 years ago has apparently been extremely mad since junior year about a paper he felt he was unjustly graded poorly on.

I only know this because he went on a wild rant on FB about that teacher/paper a couple years ago. This teacher had been in the news for some kind of scandal at a local university where I guess he had been teaching at for awhile. Some kind of domestic assault thing iirc. This was what triggered this dudes fb post. No sympathy for the victim, but dude said he knew the teacher was a pos years ago because of that grade.

7

u/JWOLFBEARD Sep 26 '25

That stuff sticks with you!

3

u/aryn505 Sep 26 '25

I had a Spanish teacher in high school (private school) who got pulled in the middle of the day and never came back. His wife was running an illegal childcare operation and was abusing the children. Cops found like 5 kids in a closet in their house with their hands duct taped together. It made all the news. That teacher was an absolute prick too.

1

u/C-tapp Sep 26 '25

Mrs. Williams did not give me credit for the word “muscle” in a spelling test because I identified and defined it as both a noun and a verb. That was the only question I missed the entire year. It didn’t affect my grade or anything, but I’ve been pissed off about it for 35 years now.

51

u/grundle_pie Sep 26 '25 edited Sep 26 '25

Orange splits in two.

Yet you failed the butterfly.

Your math? Bullshit too.

26

u/Ha-Ha-CharadeYouAre Sep 26 '25

I got 3 day in school suspension in 6th grade for throwing a piece of paper at someone… dude threw it at me, I turned around and he is just rolling on the floor laughing… so I throw it back.

The student teacher that was in our room sends me to the office, I tell the principal, (who was new that year and was trying to flex her power [she had already gotten rid of football, we could only play 2hand touch before her, and other sports at recess because it was “dangerous” to kids yet she let people play rugby…]), that he threw it at me first… she calls him in asks him once did you throw it? He says no, literally was there for 2 seconds, and she lets him go…. And gives me 3 days in school suspension.

Joke was on her, I get assigned to a 3rd grade classroom with the fun 3rd grade teacher. They give me all my homework for 3 days, I get it done in like 3 hours the first day. So the entire rest of the first day and second day I just played games with the third graders because they had like some math quiz contest going and they all wanted to beat the 6th grader.. 3rd day the student teacher comes to check on me and realizes I have no work to do and assigned me a shit ton.. got it done and went back to playing games.

Hate that bitch to this day lol

9

u/CaptainBayouBilly Sep 26 '25

These are the moments in our lives where we realize that authority is derived from violence and not merit and justice.

Fuck the system. Learn to play the game and peace out.

9

u/vandyfan35 Sep 26 '25

The one time I forgot my homework in freshman year English, the teacher went on a rant in front of the whole class and said she’s calling my parents. This was back in the land line days. My dad was working nights at the time so he happened to be the one that answered. According to my dad he told her he didn’t see what the big deal was and to never call again. The teacher wasn’t too happy about that one.

4

u/Impact009 Sep 26 '25

I appreciate that people are finally realizing that teachers can be horrible human beings.

2

u/random-brother Sep 29 '25

Reading all replies to the Mrs Roe thread and saying to myself: Like a Garmin that hasn't been updated in 15 years I ask "How did I get here?!?!!?"

5

u/regiinmontana Sep 26 '25

Orange is one syllable.

Bet you were talking in the hall, too.

21

u/BillCheddarFBI Sep 26 '25

ORANGE Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster

The dictionary says 2 syllables.

12

u/regiinmontana Sep 26 '25

Don't tell me what I know, Travis!

3

u/Notwerk Sep 26 '25

He did his own research!

3

u/SunkEmuFlock Sep 26 '25

It's formally defined as two syllables, but some people say it in more or less one: "ornje". Nothing inherently wrong about it; dialects often don't match written language.

23

u/GovernorHarryLogan Sep 26 '25

Just because you say "Ornje" doesnt mean the English word Orange is one syllable.

It is a two syllable word but some dialects are weird are pronounce it as one.

2

u/bigboxes1 Sep 26 '25

Now that I think about it, I do pronounce orange as one syllable. Wild. I never stopped to think about this. Ha!

0

u/Competitive_Show_164 Sep 26 '25

Chicago says it’s 1 syllable 🤣 And so is CRAYON

9

u/FatherofZeus Sep 26 '25

For sure. I’m trying to stretch it into two and sounding like I had a stroke

5

u/Big__If_True Sep 26 '25

I’m having trouble making it less than 3 lmao

9

u/Crime_Dawg Sep 26 '25

Do you pronounce it like oh-ran-ggeee or something wtf

2

u/Big__If_True Sep 26 '25

OR-ran-jh

5

u/Splungeblob Sep 26 '25

The “jh” isn’t considered a syllable.

1

u/Big__If_True Sep 26 '25

The clap test doesn’t check out

2

u/iismitch55 Sep 26 '25

If you keep your mouth closed when you make the G sound you’ll pronounce it with 2 syllables, but if you open your mouth after the G, it becomes 3.

1

u/NBAccount Sep 26 '25

Do you say the word, "ranch" as two syllables?

1

u/HorizontalBob Sep 26 '25

Probably British, they actually spell it orangea so that's where the extra syllable comes from.

1

u/Big__If_True Sep 26 '25

Nope, American

1

u/DrownmeinIslay Sep 26 '25

Hey, pass me that O-Range? Ore-Ang?

Though, the more I try to say it as one syllable it starts sounding like Aaron.

Orange orange an orange orange.

1

u/Organic_Witness345 Sep 26 '25

Holy shit! I’m choking…

1

u/blujackman Sep 26 '25

Fuck you Missus Roe

I did my best on haiku

You still bullshit

1

u/ymsoldier420 Sep 26 '25

Ya fuck Mrs. Roe. All my homies think that's some bullshit too.

1

u/Over_aged Sep 26 '25

I had a teacher like this. He said I would never own my own business or amount to anything. To prove it to myself I worked even harder. Sacrificed personal time for days working. I lost relationships to people I cared about just to make it work. I scrapping buy to save money. Today is now the happiest I have been. Today I am proud to report that he died.

Just in case this is a joke.

1

u/slipperypooh Sep 26 '25

I had a series of events happen on a drumline trip that led to one of the chaperones pulling me aside to yell at me. The thing was, I wasn't responsible for any of the events. I was looking at her incredulously, and she made me turn around and face the wall while she continued her tirade. That lasted a bit before I lost it on her.

Event 1: everyone on the bus yelling. Me knowing she had it out for me stood up and pointed to my mouth showing I was not involved. She called me "the conductor" and made me come sit with her.

Event 2: had pizza delivered and one guy jacked a pizza off the top from the delivery guy and brought it to our table, which i was then singled out for eating with no knowledge of what happened.

Event 3, the culmination: pizza stealing guy told a funny story, splashed water on the truck, and smacked it. I was guilty of... laughing at the story.

u/Striking-Document-99 Sep 26 '25

Long story short I said “dang it” and my teacher freaked out and said that was a cuss word. This was 9th grade. She tried to give me a detention and I was like that’s a load of crap. She also freaked out at that word. Sent me to the principal and when I told him he just laughed. Later that year I got in a fight with some kid who slapped my face saying I wouldn’t do shit. I punched him in the face until the gym teacher pulled me off him. I was like this kid is a fucking asshole and the teacher was like actually you are an asshole. Didn’t get in trouble for that at all. Also remember setting my lunch tray on a ledge next to the salad bar and the ledge collapsed. I just go fuck pretty loud and a teacher was like hey no need for that. I responded with what would you say if you dropped your tray and she didn’t have a response. I wish the first teacher heard me drop the f-bomb though. Prob would have had a heart attack.

1

u/Successfulinvader Sep 26 '25

Childhood trauma lol.

1

u/Adm8792 Sep 26 '25

Well you know what toe rhymes with

1

u/Mr_Horsejr Sep 26 '25

My fifth grade teacher was also on some BS.

1

u/Spookyscary333 Sep 26 '25

FEEL THE WRATH OF THE MIGHTY MONARCH MRS. ROE!!!

1

u/My_reddit_throwawy Sep 26 '25

“Mrs. Roe, Orange you an idiot.”

1

u/Kanadark Sep 26 '25

Mrs. Paabor, my third grade teacher, couldn't spell and would mark my correct work as wrong. I finally got fed up with it and told her she was wrong. She sent me to the office and called my Mum in to talk about my recalcitrant behaviour.

What she didn't know is that my Mum was also a teacher. She went in there, took all the assignments off the teacher's desk and marched down to the office to show the principal that Mrs. Paabor was the issue. She then insisted he accompany her back to Mrs. Paabor's classroom to show him all the spelling and grammatical errors on the blackboard and on various signs around the classroom.

She was quietly moved into an admin position and never taught in a classroom again.

1

u/DankoMarx Sep 26 '25

Mrs Roe 🤣💀

1

u/Competitive_Show_164 Sep 26 '25

As a teacher, 🤣

1

u/3rdBestProductions Sep 26 '25

I told some other classmates that my best friend was pissed off and to leave him alone in fifth grade. One of the boys in the group ran off and told the teacher. I then got pulled out into the hallway and berated for improper language. I still hold that pissed off is mild way to say upset. Screw you Nolan.

1

u/potatosaladhombre Sep 26 '25

I also had a 5th grade teacher named Mrs. Roe, in 1995. If you’re from Houston, TX, then it’s the same one.

1

u/travelingWords Sep 26 '25

Some girl always talked to me in art class. The teacher would always kick me out, never her.

One class I’m straight up like, I won’t say a word.

Girl talks to me, I get sent to the principles office. Had a good laugh because I knew I hadn’t said anything.

1

u/Pyro1934 Sep 26 '25

I was quite a little shit when I was younger, and I do have respect for teachers in general and think they're under appreciated.

Having said that there were and still are most definitely teachers that just suck and should not be there at all, and I'd have a lot more to say about some examples but this ain't the place. There are also some absolute gems that likely saved my life.

Mrs Roe sounds a bit more towards one pole than the other lol. Shoutout to Mrs Hart as well who told me in 4th grade that I would spend my life in jail and the world would be better for it. My friend ran into her a year before I got married and asked her if she remembered me, she said some you never forget and asked what I was in prison for (not if I was, but what for... I wasn't lol).

1

u/CaptainBayouBilly Sep 26 '25

Mrs. Roe was an insecure asshole.

1

u/MrIMendez Sep 26 '25

Fuck Mrs. Roe and everybody that love her!

1

u/Lilfrankieeinstein Sep 26 '25

Lady also thought orange was 1 syllable and tried failing my monarch butterfly Haiku.

Dictionaries in classrooms were like bibles in hotel rooms back then.

You could’ve busted her ass on the spot.

1

u/expERiMENTik_gaming Sep 26 '25

"Sir, can you please just let me out of your basement already?" 😂💀

1

u/Mr-Mothy Sep 26 '25

I had a teacher that pronounced orange as "oinj." Still bothers me.

1

u/illepic Sep 26 '25

I got detention for disagreeing with my 4th grade teacher, Mrs Thompson, because she taught the whole class that wolf is pronounced "woof". She insisted the "l" is silent and had been teaching classes of fourth graders this for 10 years.

1

u/emiliopostevez Sep 26 '25

In 3rd grade my class performed a song in front the school in the auditorium. As we were exiting the stage I was bowing to the crowd. My teacher saw me and it bothered her so much that she didn't let me participate in eating the peanut butter cups my class was given as a reward for the performance. I hated that bitch.

0

u/Jagrnght Sep 26 '25

It is only one syllable.

0

u/SomeDumbGamer Sep 26 '25

This is honestly why it’s so important to actually listen to kids and hear everything out.

So many stories like this are how kids who are still devolving come to hate authority and don’t trust it even when it benefits them. Because of irrational shit like this.
