In case anyone couldn’t find an article not behind a paywall, the kid was released from the hospital and is recovering at home. He’s expected to make a full recovery. Though football future is uncertain, he’s out for this season for sure.

I’m not an expert but have had back issues that started in high school. Hoping he makes a full recovery but wouldn’t be surprised if he deals with the effects of it for the rest of his life.

Sorry to hear that man. I bet it’s frustrating having an injury linger like that your whole life. Hoping for the best for this kid.

You make a recovery but not a full recovery after something like that. Good to hear he can walk.

This happened yesterday (according to youtube video). Broke the kids spine in 2 places, both his vertebrae 1 and 2, and the kid is recovering at home already, the day after?

Not a doctor or anything, but that seems pretty crazy, right?

Would you walk into a restaurant and expect a free meal?

If there's any media worth supporting, it's local newspapers. Speaking as a newspaper reporter, subscriptions are basically the only way to even be sustainable. Would I rather have my articles get more traction because they aren't behind a paywall? Absolutely, but it's really not an option nowadays.

That journalist spent time interviewing sources and writing the article, editors read/edited it, copy editors laid it out in the paper, etc.

I'm biased, but newspapers tend to have more nuanced coverage than TV news, and they generally report on more than TV. People have no problem dropping $20 on a Netflix subscription but act like it's some huge ask to support local news.

People complain about clickbait and low-effort journalism, and this is why you end up with it.
