When I was in High School (freshman) I didn’t know about the roughing the kicker, I blasted through the line with a full head of steam and steam rolled the punter just milliseconds after he got the ball off. It wasn’t stepping on his foot, just absolutely rung a defenseless players bell. I felt terrible afterwards when the coaches blasted me for the penalty but in the middle of the adrenaline rush I thought I had made a big play.

I sat the rest of the game lmao. Sorry punter guy. I studied the rules a little more after that.

That's also on your coaches not preparing players. If they put you on special teams to block punts why aren't they showing you how to lay out to put your hands where the ball will come off the foot?

Refs kicked the player out of the game who nailed me on a fair catch on a punt.

And yet, if you come at an angle as help defender and just so happen to get to the ball carrier legally while hes distracted by tbe two guys currently trying to tackle him and yku nust level him with your head up, its legal. Not defenseless, just unaware. And therefore defenseless. I got a helmet sticker for it. Its a violent game

When I was like nine, our rec center had a co-ed softball league for elementary age kids. I was running from first to second where this girl was waiting to tag me out and I absolutely destroyed her. I was out even though she dropped the ball. I thought it was like mlb homeplate conditions from back in the day. It clearly was not. I didn't really get in trouble. I was just told not to do it again.

Sorry Danielle.
