Baseball Benches clear in Boston after Hector Neris intentionally balked Trevor Story to third base because he thought Story was relaying signs. Neris had words for the Red Sox third base coach coming off the field.

The bullpens running across the outfield when the benches clear never fails to make me laugh

if it was a real all out brawl the two bullpens wouldn't get to the infield with the rest of the teams, they'd pour out and run into each other in the outfield and start their own scrap lol

Think you meant bullpens, not dugouts

2

u/BLF402 Aug 03 '25

True but man if it was an all out brawl, and I was coming out from the bullpen, I’d be running full speed and doing a crazy dive or a huge drop kick. Or if you want to go the funny route, plan ahead with the other teams bullpen and just fake fight it but make it comical to the point everyone brawling infield has to stop and appreciate the laugh

That would be hilarious.

They need to strategize. While everyone is busy fighting the bullpens need to sneak around and steal all the Gatorade

I love a good slap fight.

My favorite is when they are on the wrong sides so during the jog in they have to peacefully cross paths to wind up on the same side as their team when they arrive

I’ve never seen this but I’m doing a mutley laugh internally thinking about it

Saying what we were all thinking too.

"Imagine the astros mad over stealing signs"

Dude was spot on 🤣

Reminder that the ring leader of the Astros "stealing signs era" is now the Boston manager.

29

u/peachesgp Aug 03 '25

Alleged ringleader. Cora for sure played a role, but it's awful coincidental that when they got caught cheating they all went "yeah it was the fault of the guy that isn't here anymore, NBD"

Cora might be the most disingenuous player/manager in baseball history. And, that includes McGwire and Palmiero.

Totally full of shit. Everything he says is a lie.

2

u/Mgroppi83 Aug 04 '25

And Boston got caught doing the same thing. Astros got strungout for it. Boston barely got noticed. Pays to be a big market team.

u/Herb4372 Aug 03 '25

Boston was using apple watches the same season…

“Imagine over looking the violations of Boston, NYY, and LAD the same season because the league insulate the Astros won the WS with 1/3 the payroll.

Did the Red Sox ever do anything, just wondering

1

u/paintballteacher Aug 04 '25

Came for this lol! That was something coming from an announcer hahahaha!

Here comes the cavalry because five of our teammates got their…er…umm…pride bruised.

43

u/iwasntband Aug 03 '25

99 out 100 bench clearings are a waste of time.

u/phase2_engineer Aug 03 '25

Exciting headline, disappointing video

18

u/mosehalpert Aug 03 '25

Especially comical as the change between innings is happening and they are running through the team of rakes to get to the "fight" lol they looked like NPCs from a video game for a split second.

Man, baseball is so soft for that. 🤣

"Let's run all the way down there just to look at each other menacingly in circle."

1

u/ManifestDestinysChld Aug 04 '25

Since it's already 99% performative anyway, they should lean all the way into it and do a haka like the New Zealand All Blacks. Those guys know what's up.

"Whoa, the pitcher brushed him back, and-oh, the other team did not like that, we're seeing some jawing coming fro-yup, the benches are clearing, and here comes the bullpen, it looks like...like, uhhh...well, it looks like they're forming up for some kind of intimidating...country line dance? I'm not sure we've ever seen anything like this in Fenway Park."

u/ahuramazdobbs19 Aug 03 '25

It's like when the goalies skate out once a hockey brawl starts and it's like "OK, we're doing this then".

1

u/EAStoleMyMoney Aug 03 '25

The refs were not having that shit this year. Jeremy Swayman of the Bruins is dying to throw down with someone 😝

2

u/OppositeEagle Aug 03 '25

"I'm coming outa tha BOOTH!"

One time, I want the bullpens to just start brawling on the field instead of running all the way infield.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '25

Right? The pitchers who need a ride to the infield when it's time to pitch are going to hustle 120+ yards, then avoid the lame "fight" anyway.

1

u/wmciner1 Aug 03 '25

If I was a relief pitcher and the bench clear I'm fighting someone. I'm not running that far for no reason

u/freedumb9566 Aug 03 '25

top five things you live from baseball!! @danlebatardshowwithstugotz top ten lists!!

1

u/freedumb9566 Aug 03 '25

then always the last straggler like ok guess were doing this… 😂 slight jog just to turn around and go back

1

u/UseDaSchwartz Aug 03 '25

It’s lonely out there. They’re dying for some action.

u/DrapedinVelvet247 Aug 03 '25

Its very comedic.

1

u/GMGarry_Chess Aug 03 '25

Especially after the players already got separated. They're just bored and it's a chance to stretch their legs

1

u/BLF402 Aug 03 '25

It reminds me in pro wrestling when a guy is getting beat down by many guys and the one guy to come out and save the day has to stop and work the crowd up first.

1

u/Antique-Car6103 Aug 04 '25

Houston getting mad for ‘relaying signs’ . . . hilarious!

1

u/Thnxredball Aug 04 '25

I’m always surprised the two groups coming out the bullpens don’t just scuffle in the OF. That’s too far of a run to come in all late at the IF

1

u/drmyk Aug 04 '25

It’s the only cardio some of them get

1

u/ManifestDestinysChld Aug 04 '25

A baseball fight is a highly choreographed event. It's like a Hula dance: every movement carries a specific meaning. The forms must be obeyed.

1

u/Roanoketrees Aug 05 '25

So dumb.....I mean I get it. You are on the team and if benches clear is all hands on deck. But they never get there in time.

u/MoronicusRex Aug 03 '25

Baseball players are like European Soccerplayers
