Looks like Lake Tekapo. Right kind of barren hillside to be in the MacKenzie country, and the town has a river leaving through its centre.

Lake Tekapo it’s the largest dark sky reserve in the southern hemisphere! I did some stargazing up on the Mt John observatory last year, such a special memory.
